Thin coatings of crosslinked poly(vinylphosphonic acid), PVPA, display good adhesion and excellent intumescent, fire-retardant barrier properties when applied to the surfaces of a typical thermoplastic, such as poly(methyl methacrylate), but perform relatively poorly in water-soak tests. To strengthen and further improve the barrier properties of the intumescent char and to make the coating more hydrophobic, PVPA has been complexed with various inorganic and organic species. The chars formed from coatings of some of these hybrid materials are less friable than chars from coatings synthesized from crosslinked PVPA alone, and show higher levels of water tolerance with no significant reduction in dry adhesion to the substrate.

The morphological, thermal and barrier properties of low-density polyethylene/polycaprolactone-modified nanocellulose hybrid materials were investigated in this paper. Nanonocelulose/magnetite (NC-Fe3O4) nanocomposite and maleic acid functionalized NC/magnetite (NCMA-Fe3O4) nanocomposite were prepared and used as filler at various concentrations (5, 10 and 15 wt. %) in polycaprolactone (PCL) layer. PE was coated with PCL/NC/magnetite layer. The addition of the filler did not unfavorably affect the inherent properties of the polymer, especially its barrier properties. Oxygen permeation measurements show that the oxygen barrier properties of magnetite enriched PCL film were improved due to chemical activity of added material. The highest level of barrier capacity was observed for PE samples coated with PCL based composite with NCMA-Fe3O4 micro/-nanofiller, which implies the significant contribution of nanocellulose surface modification with maleic anhydride residue to improved barrier properties.

Carbon dioxide conversion to chemicals and fuels based on two-dimensional based hybrid materials will present a thorough discussion of the physics, chemistry, and electrochemical science behind the new and important area of materials science, energy, and environmental sustainability. The tremendous opportunities for two-dimensional based hybrid materials in the photocatalytic carbon dioxide conversion field come up from their huge number of applications. In the carbon dioxide conversion field, nanostructured metal oxide with a two-dimensional material composite system must meet assured design and functional criteria, as well as electrical and mechanical properties. The whole content of the proposed review is anticipated to build on what has been learned in elementary courses about synthesizing two-dimensional nanomaterials, metal oxide with composites, carbon dioxide conversion requirements, uses of two-dimensional materials with nanocomposites in carbon dioxide conversion as well as fuels and the major mechanisms involved during each application. The impact of hybrid materials and synergistic composite mixtures which are used extensively or show promising outcomes in the photocatalytic carbon dioxide conversion field will also be discussed.
