One 60 years-old patient was scheduled for left posterior maxillary ridge augmentation due to failure of standard implants, followed by successful maxillary dental implants. We used an unproved technique consisting in a mixture of 50% allogenic and 50% xenogenic bone supported by reabsorbable membrane. No complications were found at the different stages of the treatment, and at the ending the patient showed a good level of satisfactory outcomes. Radiological evaluation demonstrated ridge augmentation able to support implant, and within the graft islands of connective and bone-like tissue was found. Within these tissues osteoclasts and osteoblast putative cells were found. Results demonstrate that the used method in addition to support implants has osteogenic and bone remodeling activity.

Introduction Recurrent parotitis is frequently encountered in Otolaryngology practice. Parotid calculi, however is extremely uncommon as compared to submandibular calculi. Hence parotid duct calculi as a cause of recurrent parotitis need a special emphasis. Case Report We present here a rare case of recurrent parotitis due to parotid duct calculi in a 35 yr old female patient, who initially had presented to ENT OPD with recurrent pain and swelling for last eight months. Clinical examination was suggestive of calculi in the left parotid duct area which was confirmed by relevant radiological evaluation including USG, CT scan and parotid sialography. Patient was treated by superficial parotidectomy along with removal of the calculi from the parotid duct.  Discussion Calculi arising from the submandibular duct and gland are well established and quite easy to diagnose, but parotid calculi are quite unheard of in clinical practice. According to Western literature, parotid calculi account for 15-20% of all salivary gland calculi. We present here the case along with the relevant review of the literature.

Abstract Introduction: Penetrating lesions by pencil in the temporal lobe in children and adolescents are uncommon. We present the case of a teenager with penetrating injury by strange object in the temporal lobe. Case: Twelve years old male patient, with history of trauma while he was playing with his friends, presents alteration of the consciousness state, weakness in right hemibody and dysphasia. Urgent surgery is practiced employing an incision in “C” form with improvement of the consciousness state during post-operative. Discussion: Penetrating lesions in the skull and brain are classified as missiles and non-missiles depending of their impact velocity. The wood is a porous organic material that provide a natural deposit of microbian agents, making it potentially lethal. Pre-operative radiological evaluation allows check the trajectory of the penetrating object and secondary lesions present guiding de neurosurgical approach. The prognostic depends on penetration site, timely handling and complications associated. Conclusion: Penetrating lesions by pencil are uncommon, an appropriate imaging evaluation is fundamental to determine the neurosurgical approach that allows prevent and/or decrease secondary damage.

Mesiodens is the most common supernumerary tooth and is present in the midline between the two central incisors. It occurs mostly due to hyperactivity of the dental lamina. They are usually small, with a cone shaped crown and a short root, may be single or paired, erupted or impacted and occasionally even be inverted. Presence of more than one mesiodens is termed as mesiodentes. Presence of mesiodens may cause impaction or delayed eruption of permanent teeth, malocclusion leading to disturbance in chewing, swallowing and speech, root resorption of the adjacent teeth, impaired dentofacial aesthetics, and sometimes cyst formation. The erupted mesiodens can be easily diagnosed clinically, and the unerupted ones are best diagnosed by clinical and radiological evaluation. Although mesiodens is the most common supernumerary teeth, presence of double mesiodens is uncommon. In this paper we describe a case of palatally erupted double mesiodens and its management in a 20year old girl.

This is a case report of a young man who presented to us as a case of hypogastric pain and frequency of micturation. General physical examination and radiological evaluation confirmed a multiloculated pelvic swelling. Patient was subjected to laparotomy which confirmed the diagnosis of a primary pelvic hydatid disease. Patient was put on chemotherapy after surgery and is doing well on follow up.
