Teething of temporary teeth in children is a natural and physiological process. However, in some cases, it can be accompanied by numerous unpleasant symptoms, such as fever, decreased appetite, anxiety in the child, sleep disturbance and indigestion. Knowledge of the physiology of teething, anatomical and physiological characteristics and factors affecting the process of teething of temporary teeth in children is important for the timely provision of assistance to such children. The article describes in detail the duration of teething, mechanisms, age and constitutional peculiarities during teething, the causes of pathological teething (dentitio difficiLis). The authors provided symptoms and differential diagnosis of delayed eruption of the teeth - the teething syndrome and presented methods and techniques for reducing pain intensity. The advantages and disadvantages of the main drugs that are used to treat the teething syndrome are also outlined: anti-infLammatory drugs (acetaminophen, ibuprofen), topical drugs (gels, ointments), homeopathic preparations. Particular attention is paid to the advantages of homeopathic combination preparations, which are highly effective, safe and provide a minimal pharmacological Load on the child’s body. CLinicaL cases of children aged 6.5 months and 8 months with teething symptoms and the use of a homeopathic combination preparation are presented. Positive changes were observed: heaLth improvement, anxiety reLief, fever reLief, appetite improvement. This case has demonstrated how non-drug measures, mother support and homeopathic preparations can effectiveLy heLp treat the baby’s teething syndrome without using non-steroidaL anti-infLammatory drugs and topicaL preparations.

Introduction: Hereditary gingival fibromatosis is a rare disorder with a genetic component that may appear during tooth replacement. This condition can cause functional and aesthetic pro-blems such as malocclusions, diastemas, pain when chewing, dental caries, periodontal disease, delayed eruption, among others. Objective: To report the multidisciplinary treatment provided to a patient with hereditary gingival fibromatosis. Case Report: This report describes the treatment carried out in a thirteen-year-old male patient presenting generalized increase in gingival volume associated with functional and aesthetic compromise and delayed eruption of permanent teeth. After diagnosis, a multidisciplinary intervention was proposed, involving perio-dontal and pediatric dentistry procedures, which improved the quality of life of the patient both functionally and aesthetically. Conclusion: Hereditary gingival fibromatosis not only affects the dental eruption process, but also causes aesthetic and emotional alterations in the patient. The periodontal procedures significantly im-proved the appearance, function, and the psychological state of the patient.

Objective: To investigate the effect of angulation of permanent mandibular second molars (MM2) on eruption problems and investigate a new method of measuring MM2 angulation for the diagnosis and evaluation of delayed tooth eruption (DTE) for easy use in dental practice. Design: Retrospective study. Setting: Department of Orthodontics, Necmettin Erbakan University. Participants: A total of 98 patients aged 9–18 years. Methods: Patients with 64 permanent MM2s with delayed eruption problems were included in the study group. The control group consisted of patients with 83 normally erupted teeth. In addition, a sub-group, consisting of 23 patients showing unilaterally delayed eruption of the same teeth, was set as a split-mouth group. All patients with unilateral delayed eruption of second molar teeth were selected from the study group to form the sub-group. Angulations of permanent MM2s were measured on panoramic radiographs with two measurement methods: (1) a new method; and (2) a previously accepted method. The comparison of the study and control groups was performed by Mann–Whitney U-test and the split-mouth group was analysed with the paired t-test. The P value was set at 0.05 for statistical significance. Results: Measurements of the tooth angulation values of the study group were significantly higher than in the control group for both measurement methods ( P < 0.001). In addition, in the split-mouth group, angulation values of delayed eruption side were significantly higher than the erupted side ( P < 0.001). Conclusion: Increased angulations of permanent MM2s could be associated with delayed eruption problems of these teeth. This new method could be useful in clinical dentistry to determine the eruption evaluation of lower second molars.

West syndrome is a clinical condition characterized by the combination of an abnormal EEG showing chaotic pattern called hypsarrhythmia, infantile spasms, and delayed development or loss of acquired milestones. The oral manifestations of the conditions are wide and varied ranging from poor oral hygiene, bleeding gums, periodontitis, altered chronology and delayed eruption, high arched palate and extensive caries in multiple teeth. COVID-19 has affected the provision of dental care to all, especially special child care. Henceforth with an aim towards provision of treatment for reliving pain in needful patient, the oral health management was carried out keeping in mind the current pandemic scenario and practice restrictions.

A young cat was presented with oral discomfort, gingival swelling and delayed eruption of the permanent dentition. Radiography confirmed the presence of unerupted teeth and identified alveolar bone pathology. Operculotomy was performed to expose the embedded teeth. Eruption and the potential etiology of disturbances to normal dental eruption are discussed.

Child under-nutrition has effects which last a lifetime. The consequences can be both short term and long term. Malnourished children tend to be physically, emotionally and intellectually less productive and suffer more from chronic illnesses and disabilities compared to healthy children. The objective of this study was to determine prevalence of under-nutrition and investigate association between early childhood malnutrition and deciduous tooth eruption in children aged 0-59 months in Mugu district of Nepal. A structured questionnaire based on Nepal Demographic and Health Survey 2011 questionnaire was used. Weight and height of 246 children, aged 0-59 months were measured. Dental caries status and eruption sequence were noted. Among the total, 14 .1% had moderate/severe wasting of muscles, 25.2% were moderately stunted and 36.6% were severely stunted. From the total, 30 .5% were moderately underweight and 18.3% were severely underweight. A significantly higher proportion with wasting presented with delayed eruption sequence than those without wasting (p <0.05). From the total, 25.4% who presented with delayed eruption also had at least one decayed tooth (p><0.05). From this study, it was concluded that malnutrition causes delayed tooth eruption, affects the oral health of the child, and results in an increased caries experience.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Tooth agenesis is often associated with other tooth anomalies, such as microdontia, delayed eruption and ectopic eruption. Moreover, they may be found all in the same individual, as certain genetic mutations may have a variable phenotypic expression. Treatment of cases of hypodontia of anterior teeth should not involve only opening or closing space for prosthetic rehabilitation. Individuals with hypodontia of permanent maxillary lateral incisors may have teeth with a mesiodistal width smaller than that of patients with a normal dentition, and which may need reshaping to achieve an esthetic and functional occlusion. Objective: This clinical case report discusses the association of hypodontia of permanent maxillary lateral incisors with other tooth anomalies and their treatment alternatives.

Abstract Odontomas are one of the most common tumours of odontogenic origin. They are usually asymptomatic but may be associated with retained primary teeth or missing permanent teeth. Though the exact aetiology is unknown, the postulated causes include trauma, infection, inheritance and genetic mutation. Early diagnosis and management will result in fewer complications. Conservative surgical excision is the treatment of choice. This case report presents a treated case of compound odontoma associated with delayed eruption of the permanent central incisor in a nine-year-old boy. Keywords: Compound Odontoma. Continuous...
