PMMA-BMA oil absorption resin was prepared by dispersion polymerization. Oil absorption properties were adjusted by changing the monomer ratio, content of initiator and crosslinking agent. Absorption capacity of porous material, which PMMA-BMA oil absorption resin adhesive in the polyurethane surface, was also investigated. The experimental results show that the best oil absorption ratio of PMMA-BMA copolymer resin was obtained when the MMA/BMA mole ratio was1:1.5, and the initiator and crosslinking agent was 0.4% and 0.35% of the copolymer resin respectively. The porous material was fabricated using the porous polyurethane sponge dipped in the liquid copolymer resin. The porous material resin can be reused since its low oil retention rate, and it can be used as absorption container of oil vapor.

To reduce costs and obtain excellent performance, acrylic modified lignin sulfonate instead of butyl methacrylate stearyl methacrylate was prepared to oil absorption resin. And 1, 4-butylene glycol dimethacrylate as a crosslinking agent, 2,2’-azo-bis-(2-methylpropionitrile) as the initiator, with butyl acrylate to product the high lignin oil-absorbing resin, selected the best scheme for preparing by the orthogonal method, and the different concentrations of lignin and the best resin properties determined by SEM and its oil absorption test. Experimental results show that the resin has the high oil absorption properties, the maximum absorption of 20 times, and the suction speed is fast that 90min to reach saturation; It also has other characteristics, such as inexpensive cost, lightweight, easy recycling and disposal, reusable and so on.

The high oil-absorbing resin is a new type functional polymer material. The recent development of high oil-absorbent resin and its properties and synthesis were introduced in this reviewpaper. The absorption principle and process of highoil-absorbent resin are also presented. The effect of monomer, crosslinking agent and pore forming agent on high oil-absorption properties of oil-absorbing resin is investigated. At last, the present applications of the high oil-absorbing resin in environmental protection and other industrial purpose are also mentioned.

Abstract The magnetic chitosan-stearic acid compound was prepared for using chitosan and stearic acid. The morphology, structure and hydrophobic property of the magnetic chitosan-stearic acid compound were characterized. The influences of oil type and temperature on its oil absorption performance were determined. The results shows that the magnetic chitosan-stearic acid compound has a fluffy structure with a contact angle of 133.65°, indicating that the compound has a good hydrophobic property. Different oils have various impact on the oil absorption performance of the magnetic chitosan-stearic acid compound. The magnetic chitosan-stearic acid compound has the best oil absorption to crude oil, with an oil absorption rate of 4.12 g/g. With the increase of temperature, the oil absorption rate first increases and then decreases. There is an optimal temperature for oil absorption, with a temperature of 40°C.

AbstractPolypropylene oil-absorption fibre (PP-g-BA) was prepared by radiationinduced graft polymerization of butyl acrylate (BA) onto polypropylene (PP) using divinylbenzene (DVB) as cross-linking agent. The original and grafted PP fibres were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and the result indicated that butyl acrylate was successfully grafted onto PP fibre. The factors that influenced the grafting degree of PP were discussed, such as the concentration of monomer and crosslinking agent. When the concentration of DVB was 2% and the concentration of BA was 10%, the maximum grafting degree reached 20.53%. The oil absorption properties of PP and PP-g-BA fibre were investigated and the results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of PP-g-BA reached 19.74 g/g for toluene and 18.8 g/g for kerosene. Simulating absorption in the oil floating on the surface of water showed that the oil could be absorbed quickly and completely in three minutes. PP-g-BA exhibited quicker adsorption rate and higher adsorption capacity than PP fibre did.
