Transparent insulation materials have been extensively used in building windows and solar collector covers. Glass and plastic sheets are long-established insulators while aerogel is a promising material due to its high light transmittance and low thermal conductivity. Optical properties of aerogels, glass, and plastic sheets are measured with a spectrophotometer. Solar transmittance and light transmittance are calculated from the measured optical properties in accordance with the standard spectral data. Normal-direct transmittances and normal-hemispherical transmittances of different materials are compared. Specific surface area and pore size distribution of aerogels are measured with the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method. The correlation between the optical properties and nanoscale structure features of aerogels is investigated.

AbstractIn this paper, several cross-linked polymer materials with high light-transmitting properties are presented. First, mercaptopropyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS-SH) was synthesized via the hydrolytic condensation of 3-mercaptopropyl triethoxysilane. Then, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and allylmethacrylate were allowed to polymerize with POSS-SH, yielding a hybridized composite. The volumetric shrinkage, thermal, and light-transmitting properties of the materials were studied and investigated using a pycnometer, differential scanning calorimeter, and ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer. The results indicated that POSS-SH decreased the volumetric shrinkage of the GMA-based materials. Thermal analysis indicated that the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the hybrid composite decreased as the POSS-SH content increased, while the Tc and Tm of the hybrid composite increased slightly. The light transmittance of the hybrid composite increased as the POSS-SH content increased. When the POSS-SH content increased to 42.9%, the hybrid composite exhibited average light transmittance values of 96% at wavelengths ranging from 200 to 400 nm and 97% at wavelengths ranging from 400 to 800 nm.

The effect of bamboo fiber content on mechanical properties, moisture permeability and light transmittance of composite membrane was studied. The results show that the tensile strength of the composite film is increased by 30%, and the mechanical properties of PVA film are improved obviously with the addition of bamboo cellulose, which can be used as a good reinforcing material of PVA matrix. Bamboo cellulose composite film is a kind of transparent material because of its high light transmittance.

L-lysine-based dendritic gelator(G3-C12-G3) was successfully designed and synthesized using a divergent approach and it can self-assemble into nanofibers in MMA followed by gelation. After thermal polymerization of MMA gels, the self-assembly nanofibers modified PMMA nanocomposite can be obtained. SEM studies indicate the embedded supra molecular nanofibres joint each other and form a relative intact gel networkskeleton in PMMA matrix. Impact strength and DMTAmeasurementindicatethe existence of gel network skeleton make PMMA nanocomposite had higher impact strength and storage modulus than pure PMMA. UV-vis spectrophotometer studies indicate PMMA nano-composite retains high light transmittance.

The metal grid transparent conductive film is a kind of important electronic material. The production method is a valuable topic. Gravure printing, as one direct-printing method, is suitable for printing the metal grid transparent conductive film, according to gravure printing principle. This paper focuses on improving gravure plate to print the metal grid transparent conductive film. Firstly, the nano-sliver grid transparent conductive film is printed by electronic engraving plate and laser ablation plate. Then, according to the analysis result that the resistivity of the nano-sliver grid transparent conductive film printed by two general plates is too high to meet the requirements of the transparent conductive film, the general plate-making methods is improved to make the new gravure plate. Last, the metal grid transparent conductive film, with relatively high light transmittance and low resistivity which meet the requirements of the transparent conductive film , is printed by the improved plate.
