Purpose The purpose of the study is to address the gap in understanding how the brand influences sales outcomes by focusing one’s attention on the salesperson perceptions of the brand and the salesperson brand selling confidence. Design/methodology/approach The study uses a cross-section survey of professional salespeople. SmartPLS was used to estimate the measurement model and test the hypothesized path relationships. Findings The study’s results indicate that salespeople who believe in the strength of the brands they represent are more likely to identify with the brand, are more confident in selling the brand and, overall, tend to perform better, have higher job satisfaction and are more committed to their companies. Originality/value This paper contributes to the sales literature by further exploring the relationship between the brand and sales function in the firm. This area has recently received academic attention but has not yet considered the mediating processes that connect the two areas. This study identifies perceptions of brand strength and brand selling confidence as mechanisms that mediate the impact of brand on sales outcomes.

With the growing trend of global competitiveness and business complexity, the need arises for integrating BDTs in the design of ODSS. BDTs enable ODSS to deal with data of volume, variety, and velocity beyond the capability of traditional databases and data-warehouses in ODSS. The basic modules of updated ODSS with BDT are presented as a conceptual design, which provides a general foundation for the detailed design and implementation of an application. The validation of the proposed conceptual design is conducted on a test-case based upon the BSC perspectives as well as requirements common for ODSS scenarios. The results show that each requirement of the system is supported by a set of integrated modules in a balanced way. The modules of the highest contribution in the conceptual design are the modules most related to BDT. The initial stages of the implementation of the system are given.

Currently in Romania it has been implemented the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and its sustainability has become an impending need. In this paper, the authors propose an integrating structure, which involves a relatively large number of organizations for the sustainability of the National Qualifications Framework (CNC), while also providing quality assurance in higher education. Using quality management principles and their implementation stages as generic conceptual solutions, there have been established the specific conceptual solutions for the conceptual design of a system which the authors have called the System of Implementation and Sustainability of the National Qualifications Framework in Higher Education (SIS - CNCIS). It was then prepared the detailed design of the SIS-CNCIS for the particular case of implementation in Industrial Engineering.

This paper presents a preliminary design methodology for small unmanned battery powered tailsitters. Subsystem models, including takeoff weight, power and energy consumption models, and battery discharge model, were investigated, respectively. Feasible design space was given by simulation with mission and weight constraints, while the influences of wing loading and battery ratio were analyzed. Case study was carried out according to the design process, and the results were validated by previous designs. The design methodology can be used to determine key parameters and make necessary preparations for detailed design and vehicle realization of small battery powered tailsitters.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to review and evaluate the methods commonly used in accounting literature to correct for cointegrated data and data that are neither stationary nor cointegrated. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted Monte Carlo simulations according to Baltagi et al. (2011), Petersen (2009) and Gow et al. (2010), to analyze how regression results are affected by the possible nonstationarity of the variables of interest. Findings The results of this study suggest that biases in regression estimates can be reduced and valid inferences can be obtained by using robust standard errors clustered by firm, clustered by firm and time or Fama–MacBeth t-statistics based on the mean and standard errors of the cross section of coefficients from time-series regressions. Originality/value The findings of this study are suited to guide future researchers regarding which estimation methods are the most reliable given the possible nonstationarity of the variables of interest.
