Pretreatment, solar pond (SP), and forced circulation crystallizer (FCC) are the basic stages of one option to provide the goals of zero discharge desalination (ZDD) process. This work represents the performance of a solar pond that is coupled with forced circulation crystallizer as second and third stages of proposed zero discharge desalination process. The purpose of ZDD in this paper is gathering fresh water and saline crystals from effluent wastewater of the desalination unit of Mobin petrochemical complex. So, the SP unit is constructed after the pretreatment unit to concentrate the treated wastewater to about 20 wt. % as a suited feed for the FCC unit. Effects of solar insolation rate are investigated experimentally, during a year. In addition, the effect of cooling water flow rate of FCC on quality of effluent stream from SP as feed crystallizer is studied in this paper. The experimental results show the maximum evaporation rate from SP is obtained 5 l/(m2·d) when the insolation rate was about 2.5 × 104 kJ/(m2·d). Experiments show the suitable range of crystals growth (710 μm to 830 μm) in FCC is occurred when the cooling water flow rate in condenser is 9 kg/min. The size and the color of produced salt crystals will be optimized in this flow rate and energy consumption is measured as 6.98 kW·h.

The Site Radwaste Treatment Facility (SRTF) was to treat the liquid radioactive waste with high concentration of electrolytes in CAP1400 plant. Unlike the forced-circulation or natural-circulation evaporator, the waste was purified by evaporation process using heat pump principle in SRTF. This process combined the benefits of heat pump technology and the separation function of evaporation. This paper gave a brief description of the complete evaporation process. The main equipments of the process included pre-heater, evaporator, demister, steam compressor, and distillate tank. The whole system and each unit operation in the process were elaborately simulated based on energy balance. The results can be further used for equipments selection and design. Through the whole discussion of the heat pump evaporation process, it showed the heat pump evaporation process has remarkable energy efficiency and great advantages in equipment layout compared to traditional evaporation treatment for liquid radioactive waste.

A new photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) system based on the micro plate heat pipe is established in this paper, and the experimental study is conducted for nature convection, forced circulation cooling and common PV module. the experiment carried out on May showed that the highest temperature were 50°C and 52°C respectively for nature convection and forced circulation cooling module, the daily average electrical efficiency were relatively increased by 13.1% and 6.1% than common PV modules, the total efficiency ηo reached 54.2% and 50.3%, and the primary-energy saving rate were 73.1% and 68%.the result indicates that in the new PV/T system the temperature of the PV modules is reduced, the electrical efficiency is keeping at a high level, and the waste heat can be made good use to get hot water, therefore the solar energy utilization efficiency was raised greatly.
