We are consuming more resources than ever, exceeding the planet’s capacity for coming generations. This shows the important role of sustainable consumption for the planet. To understand consumption patterns mindfulness may be regarded as an indicator that helps people gain insight into their true selves, which leads them to stay away from materialistic tendencies. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore the effects of mindfulness training on the sustainable consumption perceptions of university students. In this qualitative study, a two-month mindfulness training is given and two focus group studies are conducted. Results suggest that mindfulness training has an impact on people’s perceptions related to consumption. The findings of this study can serve as proof for the transformational effect of mindfulness on people’s overall mood and subjective wellbeing.   Received: 23 September 2021 / Accepted: 22 November 2021 / Published: 3 January 2022

e19002 Background: In Armenia the incidence of pediatric cancer accounts for around 80-100 cases per year. This qualitative study was conducted in 2018 to evaluate the needs and challenges in a provision of pediatric cancer care in Armenia. Comparative qualitative study was conducted in 2020 to evaluate the progress in the field. Methods: Qualitative research methods were incorporated to evaluate the achievements, needs and challenges in a provision of childhood cancer care in Armenia. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with selected study participants including pediatric oncologist/hematologists, pediatric surgeons, who also treat cancer patients, and radiation oncologists. Purposive sampling technique and qualitative conventional content analysis methods were used. Results: Data collected in January 2020 has shown significant improvements in the field of pediatric oncology in Armenia. In the 2018 study, some of the major issues included lack of centralized pediatric cancer care, pediatric cancer registry, palliative care center, possibility of providing high-dose methotrexate, limited nursing training, multidisciplinary team approaches and use of central catheters. Within two years, majority of these problems were solved or are in the process. In 2019 all 3 pediatric oncology and hematology units were merged and the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders of Armenia was created; with the support from charitable foundations all children with cancer receive free medical and psychosocial coverage; a 25 year data has been collected from all the possible sites, the first pediatric cancer palliative care is under construction, 4 multidisciplinary cancer teams were created, pediatric oncology and hematology fellowship was created at the Yerevan State Medical University to prepare for the first time "pediatric oncologist-hematologist" as a one profession. The existing major problems include very limited provision of pediatric cancer medications by the government, as well as lack of the official registration of the number of essential drugs included in the WHO list. Conclusions: Twinning programs, multidisciplinary team discussions with international experts, improvement in availability of several resources, professional development of the staff are major tools for the progress of pediatric oncology in Armenia. Poor provision and official registration of anti-neoplastic medications by the government still remain a major obstacle.

Abstract Background: Features of clinical practice guideline (CPG) recommendations may affect understanding and consequently successful uptake and implementation. We aimed to develop a recommendation format to improve understandability among healthcare professionals involved in pediatric cancer care.Methods: We conducted a multi-center qualitative study of health care professionals at participating pediatric oncology sites. We developed an initial format based on the current literature and used the “think-aloud” technique in multiple rounds of one-on-one cognitive interviews to iteratively improve it. Interviews were conducted until the format was well understood and no new, substantive suggestions for revision were raised. We took a directed (deductive) approach to content analysis of the interview notes to identify concerns related to the understandability of the recommendation. Results: Five investigators interviewed 33 healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines in seven rounds. We identified important factors influencing how to communicate recommendations. Regarding the strength of the recommendation, participants found understanding weak recommendations more challenging than strong. Understanding was improved by using the word ‘conditional’ instead of ‘weak’. Participants believed the inclusion of a rationale section to be very helpful. More information was desirable when a recommendation entailed a practice change. Although participants wanted additional information, they were concerned that there could be too much information. They, therefore, suggested that key words and the studies included in the evidence synthesis be hyperlinked to explanatory data. In the final format, the recommendation strength is clearly indicated in the title, highlighted, and defined within a text box. The rationale for the recommendation is in a column on the left, with supporting evidence on the right. In a bulleted list, the rationale section describes the benefits and harms and additional factors, such as implementation, that were balanced by the CPG developers. Each bullet under the supporting evidence section indicates the level of evidence with an explanation and the supporting studies with hyperlinks when applicable. Conclusions: A well-understood recommendation format to present strong and conditional recommendations was created through an iterative interview process. The format is straightforward, making it easy for organizations and CPG developers to use it to communicate recommendations clearly to intended users.

“Hydropic degeneration” of the hepatocytes are often found in biopsy of the liver of some kinds of viral hepatitis. Light microscopic observation, compareted with the normal hepatocytes, they are enlarged, sometimes to a marked degree when the term “balloning” degeneration is used. Their cytoplasm rarefied, and show some clearness in the peripheral cytoplasm, so, it causes a hydropic appearance, the cytoplasm around the nuclei is granulated. Up to the present, many studies belive that main ultrastructural chenges of hydropic degeneration of the hepatocytes are results of the RER cristae dilatation with degranulation and disappearance of glycogen granules.The specimens of this study are fixed with the mixed fluid of the osmium acidpotassium of ferricyanide, Epon-812 embed. We have observed 21 cases of biopsy specimens with chronic severe hepatitis and severe chronic active hepatitis, and found that the clear fields in the cytoplasm actually are a accumulating place of massive glycogen. The granules around the nuclei are converging mitochondria, endoplasm reticulum and other organelles.

Background American educational legislation suggests culturally competent speech and language services should be provided in a child's native language, but the number of multilingual speech-language pathologists (SLPs) is negligible. Consequently, many monolingual English-speaking practitioners are being tasked with providing services to these populations. This requires that SLPs are educated about cultural and linguistic diversity as well as the legislation that concerns service provision to non-English or limited English proficiency speakers. Purpose This qualitative study explored the experiences of monolingual, American, English-speaking SLPs and clinical fellows who have worked with immigrant and refugee families within a preschool context. It investigated what training SLPs received to serve this population and what knowledge these SLPs possessed with regard to federal legislation governing the provision of services to culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) communities. Method Ten American clinicians with experience treating CLD children of refugee and immigrant families in the context of preschool service provision participated in the study. Semistructured interviews were utilized to better understand the type of training clinicians received prior to and during their service delivery for CLD populations. Additionally, questions were asked to explore the degree to which practitioners understood federal mandates for ethical and effective service provision. The data collected from these interviews were coded and analyzed using the principles of grounded theory. Findings The results of this study revealed that there was a general sense of unpreparedness when working with CLD clients. This lack of training also attributed to a deficiency of knowledge surrounding legislation governing service provision to CLD populations.

Abstract This qualitative study examined student perceptions regarding a hybrid classroom format in which part of their learning took place in a traditional classroom and part of their learning occurred in an online platform. Pre-course and post-course anonymous essays suggest that students may be open to learning in this context; however, they have specific concerns as well. Students raised issues regarding faculty communication patterns, learning styles, and the value of clear connections between online and traditional learning experiences. Student concerns and feedback need to be addressed through the course design and by the instructor in order for them to have a positive learning experience in a hybrid format course.
