This chapter uses intuitionistic fuzzy VIKOR (IFVIKOR) for the application of ERP software selection. First, priority values of criteria in ERP software selection problem have been determined by using the judgments of the experts. IFWA operator is utilized to integrate the judgments of the experts about the weights of criteria. Then, the result of the IFVIKOR can be employed to define the most appropriate ERP alternative in uncertain environment. Intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are presented in all phases in order to overcome any vagueness in the decision-making process. The final decision depends on the degree of importance of each decision so that wrong degree of importance causes the mistaken result. The researchers generally determine the degrees of importance of each decision makers according to special characteristics of each decision maker as subjectivity. In order to overcome this subjectivity in this chapter, the judgments of decision makers are degraded to unique decision by using the importance degree of each expert. There is no study about ERP software selection using IFVIKOR.

Selection of a most appropriate material is a very important task in design process of every product. There is a need for simple, systematic, and logical methods or mathematical tools to guide decision makers in considering a number of selection attributes and their interrelations and in making right decisions. This paper proposes a novel multiple attribute decision making (MADM) method for solving the material selection problem. The method considers the objective weights of importance of the attributes as well as the subjective preferences of the decision maker to decide the integrated weights of importance of the attributes. Furthermore, the method uses fuzzy logic to convert the qualitative attributes into the quantitative attributes. Two examples are presented to illustrate the potential of the proposed method.

Port selection is an intrinsic supply-chain problem that has substantial impact on development of local economies. Shipping business environment developed into complex system where decision making is derived from uncertain and incomplete data. In this study we present a conceptual integrated Multi-Criteria Decision solution to transshipment port selection problem based on Best-Worst MCDM and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm. Through literature review and expert analysis, 50 relevant criteria have been identified as relevant to the transshipment port selection problem. Decision makers within liner shipping companies evaluate transshipment port selection criteria and establish ranking that is used to determine crisp solution with lowest consistency ratio. ABC based algorithm is used to reduce computational complexity and deliver a single optimal solution by solving both objective and constraint violation functions.

Multi-objectivity has existed in many real-world optimization problems. In most multi-objective cases, objectives are often conflicting, there is no single solution being optimal with regards to all objectives. These problems are called Multi-objective Optimization Problems (MOPs). To date, there have been al large number of methods for solving MOPs including evolutionary methods (namly Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithms MOEAs). With the use of a population of solutions for searching. MOEAs are naturally suitable for approximating optimal solutions (called the Pareto Optimal Set (POS) or the efficient set). There has been a popular trend in MOEAs considering the role of Decision Makers (DMs) during the optimization process (known as the human-in-loop) for checking, analyzing the results and giving the preference to guide the optimization process. This is call the interactive method.

A capital budgeting model with multiple criteria and multiple decision makers (MCMDM) is more likely to provide realistic solutions than linear or goal programming models. This paper adopts a fuzzy approach to solve MCMDM capital budgeting problems. This approach is based on two fundamental human cognitive processes: (i) all decision makers who are involved in the capital budgeting problem have goal setting and compromise behavior for seeking multiple criteria, and (ii) each decision maker has a preference for the budget availability level. A solution procedure is proposed to systematically identify a fuzzy optimal selection of possible projects that can not only reach the best compromise value for the multiple criteria, but also use the best budget availability level according to the multiple decision makers’ preferences. The optimal selection can help the firm make a realistic decision regarding its strategic investment. A comparison study of the fuzzy approach with other approaches shows the advantages of using the fuzzy approach.

The aim of this paper is to put forward a new material selection method based on COPRAS method. The method combines the COPRAS method and coefficient of variation method. The new method is simple and easy to use, and coefficient of variation method can objectively determine the attributes weights. Thus it can be easily accepted by decision makers. Finally, a practical example is used to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
