In this work percolation range for Al2O3-Ni interpenetrating phase composite (IPC) was studied to find the optimal combination of electrical conductivity and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). The impedance spectroscopy and scanning electron spectroscopy were used to study the percolation limit.

The effect of filler to the binary compound of Magnesium Iodide ( MgI2) and Magnesium Phosphate (Mg3(PO4)2is investigated. A small amount Alumina (Al2O3) filler in the range of 2-10 weight percent is added to the optimum composition with maximum conductivity of binary compound 0.7 Mg3(PO4)2and 0.3 MgI2.The electrical conductivity of theMgI2- Mg3(PO4)2- Al2O3measured using the impedance spectroscopy (IS) method and result shows that the electrical conductivity of the compound has improved up to 9.84x10-4Scm-1. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) images show some changes in the morphology after introduce the filler. The samples with filler showsnano flakes like structure with some space createdallowing the Mg2+cations to migrate that lead to enhanced conductivity.

Low ionic conductivity and easily attacked by air are among the common issues of lithium salts in lithium based solid electrolytes. Toward this end, our efforts have been focused on the development of a new lithium based electrolyte system which exhibits a good stability against atmosphere and posses high electrical conductivity. Normally, lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) alone shows a low electrical conductivity (2×10-5 Scm-1). However, the corporation of lithium iodide (LiI) has made a significant impact on the electrical conductivity of the system (4.63×10-3 Scm-1). The xLi2CO3-yLiI (x = 95-70, y = 5-30 wt.%) solid electrolyte were prepared by mechanical milling technique. The electrical and structural properties of the electrolyte systems were characterized by Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) respectively. The highest electrical conductivity (4.6×10-3 Scm-1) of the electrolyte system was obtained from the sample containing 20 wt.% of lithium iodide (LiI). The carbonate groups play a role to provide sites for the interaction between interconnected pathways and lithium ions for the fast lithium ion migration.

AbstractBa6Ta2O11 with an oxygen—deficient perovskite—related structure, was prepared through solid state reaction of BaCO3 and Ta2O5 powders. The electrical conductivity of sintered Ba6Ta2O11 pellets was measured by a.c. impedance spectroscopy inthe temperature range between 200 and 800ºC. The conductivity at 800ºC was3.7x10-3 Ω-1 cm-1; the activation energy for bulk conduction was 0.93 eV at temperatures between 500 and 800ºC and 1.22 eV below 500ºC. The bulk conductivity was independent of atmosphere, while the grain boundary conductivity, with an activation energy of 1.08 eV, decreased as oxygen partial pressure increased. The oxygen ion transport number obtained from concentration cell measurements was 0.5 to 0.65 at temperatures from 450 to 820ºC.
