New evidence of highly-complex geological heritage in Iran: Miocene sections in the Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt

<p>Nordensheld Archipelago is a relatively large cluster of islands in the eastern part of the Kara Sea located north of the Taymyr Peninsula. Belonging to the Northern Taimyr tectonic domain of the Taimyr-Severnaya Zemlya fold-and-thrust belt, this area in Late Paleozoic represented southern part of the Kara Terrane.</p><p>Samples were collected from outcrops across the Nordensheld Archipelago and shallow offshore wells in the close proximity to the archipelago and from offshore well located in Toll bay (eastern part of the Kara sea). Studied plutons are represented by coarse- to medium-grained biotite, two mica and hornblende-biotite granites. U-Pb dating of the granites yelled ages of ca. 334 and 326 Ma. The granitoids are high- to medium acidic, mainly calc-alkalic to alkali-calcic, ferroan and magnesian, metalumious and peraluminous.</p><p>The U-Pb zircon age from the Toll Bay well is the first granite age obtained offshore within eastern part of the Kara Sea. Petrographic and geochemical features of the Nordensheld Archipelago and eastern Kara Sea Visean-Serpukhovian granites indicate their suprasubduction origin. This correlates well with data from Northern Taimyr and provides new evidence for the Uralian Ocean subduction magmatism within Taimyr-Severnaya Zemlya fold-and-thrust belt.</p><p>This research was supported by RFBR grant № 19-35-90006, Russian Science Foundation grant № 20-17-00169.</p>

Iran boasts internationally important deposits of hydrocarbons. The hydrocarbons can be regarded not only as an exceptional energy resource, but also a geological heritage (geoheritage) resource. A new investigation of the Bangestan carbonate rocks from the Cretaceous age in the Fars Province has permitted to find several unique features and to assign these to six geoheritage types, namely sedimentary, palaeontological, stratigraphical, palaeogeographical, structural, and economic. The most important from these is the economic type that is ranked nationally. The Bangestan geoheritage is valuable for geoscience research, geoeducation, and geotourism, and this geoheritage is a subject of geoconservation. As these activities can bring some socio-economic benefits, this geoheritage has to be considered a true natural resource. Field studies have permitted to emphasize its appropriate manifestation in the Nowdan anticline (an area in the Zagros Mountains near the cities of Shiraz and Kazeroon), which is suggested as a geosite. Hydrocarbon-related industrial tourism and geotourism activities can be coupled for their mutual benefit. The Nowdan anticline geosite should be used for the purposes of tourism, but it requires some simple infrastructure building and involvement in excursion programs coordinated by a local museum or visitor centre.

Several outstanding problems affecting the existing parallaxes should be resolved to form a coherent system for the new General Catalogue proposed by van Altena, as well as to improve luminosity calibrations and other parallax applications. Lutz has reviewed several of these problems, such as: (A) systematic differences between observatories, (B) external error estimates, (C) the absolute zero point, and (D) systematic observational effects (in right ascension, declination, apparent magnitude, etc.). Here we explore the use of cluster and spectroscopic parallaxes, and the distributions of observed parallaxes, to bring new evidence to bear on these classic problems. Several preliminary results have been obtained.

Impfungen sind einfache und effektive Maßnahmen zur Verhinderung von Reisekrankheiten. Compliance-Probleme sind gering, da alle Impfungen noch vor Abreise verabreicht werden und bei manchen Impfungen nur eine Dosis für den zuverlässigen Schutz nötig ist. Für jeden Reisenden sind die Hepatitis A- und die Diphtherie-Tetanus-Impfung empfohlen, für Asien und Afrika auch die Polioimpfung. Bei Reisen >30 Tagen, jüngeren Personen und Reisenden mit Risikoverhalten sollte immer auch eine Hepatitis B-Impfung, eventuell als Kombination mit Hepatitis A in Betracht gezogen werden. Je nach Reisestil, -destination und -dauer können auch weitere Impfungen wie z.B. die Typhus-, Tollwut-, Zeckenenzephalitis-, Grippe-, Masern-Mumps-Röteln-, Gelbfieber-, Meningokokkenmeningitis- und die Japanische Enzephalitis-Impfung in Frage kommen.
