The immediacy of the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the sheer importance of internal and external communication with stakeholders. Universities had to rapidly grasp an unfolding and fast-changing crisis, gauge their level of preparedness, review decision and implementation processes, devise strategies, and adapt communication approaches. This exploratory study conducts a literature review in order to identify relevant studies that address how higher education institutions communicated to their stakeholders during the COVID-19 pandemic. The review of the literature revealed that although many higher education institutions had disaster recovery plans in place, few were well-equipped for a disruption of global proportions. Using a grounded theory approach, five important themes emerged from the relevant studies.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi persepsi mahasiswa calon guru matematika tentang pendidikan karakter melalui keteladanan TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid. Kata Kunci: pendidikan karakter, keteladanan, persepsi mahasiswa CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH EXEMPLARY OF TGKH MUHAMMAD ZAINUDDIN ABDUL MAJID: PROSPECTIVE TEACHER’S PERCEPTION Abstract: This study aims to explore the perceptions of mathematics’prospective-teachers about character education through exemplary of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid. This study is a descriptive exploratory study, in which the respondents were 42 mathematics prospective-teachers at Hamzanwadi University, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a likert scale and has been validated (expert validation). The data of research were analyzed descriptively and statistically (inferential statistics) with Moderate Regression Analysis (MRA) at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05). The results of study show that: (1) the perception of mathematics prospective-teachers about character education through the examplary of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid is categorized as "good"; (2) there is an effect of mathematics prospective-teachers’ knowledge on the perception of character education through the examplary of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid; (3) there is an effect of mathematics prospective-teachers’ knowledge mediated by family activeness of mathematics prospective-teachers in the NW organization, the activeness of the mathematics prospective-teachers in the NW organization, and the support of higher education institutions for the perception of character education through the examplary of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid; and (4) there is an increase in the effect of mathematics prospectiveteachers’ knowledge mediated by family activeness in the NW organization, the activeness of mathematics prospective-teachers in the NW organization on their perceptions. The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) audits engineering programmes every four years to grant accreditation to higher education institutions. During this audit, ECSA requests evidence of the four year instruction in a specific format. The problem is that lecturers each have their own e-learning layouts according to preference. This paper proposed and implemented a genereic e-learning template that is aligned with the ECSA specificaions for ease of archiving necessary evidence for the audit. It is however important to evaluate student feedback on this genereic format so that the main porpose for elearning as a learning tool is not missed by utilising it as a backup method. An exploratory study was employed to gather student perceptions on the new generic e-learning template. Four electrical engineering subjects’ students were used as the sample group and Google Forms was used to collect the data in an online questionnaire. Of the 36 students who responded to the questionnaire, 94% would recommend that all subjects adopt this generic e-learning template and 89% felt that having all their subject menus the same will make it easier to locate items. Due to the results of this study, the generic e-learning template will be adopted by all engineering subjects at the Central University of Technology, Free State with the addition of an introduction that explains the purpose and procedure of ECSA accreditation.

Private sector higher education institutions (HEIs) play a significant rolein advancement of sustainability. In Pakistan still this concept is in stageof infancy and has received little research attention. Moreover, HEIs inprivate sector are facing a lot of barriers and challenges in itsimplementation. In this backdrop, the purpose of this exploratory study isto determine the roles, barriers and challenges for development ofsustainable private sector HEIs in Punjab using semi-structuredinterviews form 11 faculty members working in private sector HEIs inPunjab, thematic analysis was carried out using NVivo 12. In general, allthe participants agreed that private sector HEIs are the knowledgecreating institutes and they can actively promote the sustainabledevelopment in Pakistan through faculty training and active involvementof all the stakeholders and action oriented research. Major barriers werefound to be lack of finance, poor research culture, faculty incompetencyand inadequate management support. It is suggested that HEIs must usethe resources in an optimal manner and develop appropriate class roomenvironment, effective curriculum, right technology usage, solutionbased research and well developed infrastructure to generate theinnovative solutions for sustainable development.
