A bark-like imitated polypr opylene (PP)/polycarbonate (PC) nanofibrous membrane was constructed by one-step meltblown technique for efficient particulate matter (PM) removal. The effects of PC content (0%, 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7%) on membrane thermal stability, microscopic characteristics, filtration performance, hydrophilicity, and water vapor transmission were investigated. The results demonstrated that using facile design of incompatibility and viscosity difference between PC and PP polymers decreases average fiber diameter, creating a bark-like groove appearance and increasing surface potential, making a new PP/PC membrane with high filtration performance. The resultant PP/PC membrane had finer average fiber diameter of 0.63 μm, which was nearly 89.41% lower than PP membranes (5.95 μm), and its quality factor (0.036 Pa−1) was nearly 2.12 times than that of PP membranes (0.017 Pa−1) with the die hole diameter of 0.5 mm. This fabrication technique of a special meltblown filter membrane saves the cost of die retrofitting and post-processing, which provides an innovative method for particulate efficient removal of high efficient filters.

Abstract Mapping genetic interactions in mammalian cells is limited due to technical obstacles. Here we describe a method called TCGI (tRNA-CRISPR for genetic interactions) to generate a high-efficient, barcode-free and scalable pairwise CRISPR libraries in mammalian cells for identifying genetic interactions. We have generated a genome- wide library to identify genes genetically interacting with TAZ in cell viability regulation. Validation of candidate synergistic genes reveals the screening accuracy of 85% and TAZ-MCL1 is characterized as combinational drug targets for non-small cell lung cancer treatments. TCGI has dramatically improved the current methods for mapping genetic interactions and screening drug targets for combinational therapies.

AbstractA high-efficient purification method of flavonoids from Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd leaves is reported. Two adsorbents functionalized with glucosamine (GA) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) were synthesized and characterized by the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. Also, adsorption properties and purification effect of flavonoids on different adsorbents were investigated. Two typical commercial adsorbents, AB-8 and D101, were employed as the reference materials. The adsorption capacity was enhanced remarkably by the introduction of GA and β-CD groups to the adsorbents. Moreover, the isotherms were well fitted by the Freundlich model. After a one-step column chromatographic separation, the purity of phloridzin increased significantly from 14.65 % to 79.48 % for PS-CD, to 66.56 % for PS-GA, 44.68 % for D101, and to 52.84 % for AB-8. This study provides a novel alternative matrix for the purification of phloridzin from Lithocarpus polystachyus Rehd leaves extracts.
