Através de cursos de curta duração ministrados no Brasil espera-se contribuir para promover reflexões sobre teoria, produção e usos da infografia.________This paper shows the experience between the years of 2014 and 2016 with the infographics teaching project entitled “Pensar Infográfico” (Thinking Infographics). For this, is presented a brief review of the literature, and then is proposed a structural model of an infographics introductory course. This course has a theoretical background in information design and, more specifically, the graphic language. The presented approach seeks to highlight the contributions of information design on teaching infographics. In this way, it is hoped to promote discussions and reflections on theory, production, and uses of infographics.

AbstractThe study of the psychobiological bases of boredom has been limited by the vagueness of its clinical constructs and the difficulties in applying adequate experimental models. The theoretical background of previous research mainly has been based upon cognitive and behavioral psychology by using neuropsychological constructs, such as arousal, attention, motivation, sensation-seeking, and the reward system. Recently acquired data depict a complex and fragmentary picture. In this article, the author presents a review of the literature as well as some personal considerations on this intriguing topic.

ABSTRACT This research paper discusses activities developed in a school located in a favela in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, and its surrounding community to deal with the issue of flooding. First, I present a review of the literature on educational management suggesting an expansive learning perspective, then I introduce the notion of collaborative agency as theoretical background. Methodologically, this study focuses on critical collaborative research and formative intervention, which implies different subjects taking part and negotiating decisions to be made during the research beyond school settings. The analysis is based on categories of description and argumentation, which contribute to the scrutiny of different voices and activities in the respective school and community. Thus, I discuss how collaborative agency contributes to the transformation of the given context: first, how the community becomes involved in the activities of the school, and second, how the school is involved in the activities of the community to overcome the problem of flooding.

This paper aims to outline the selected issues of risk management in construction enterprises operating in the Silesian and Małopolskie voivodships (Poland). In this context, it seems vitally important to have risk accurately identified, quantified and, consequently, responded to in the right way. Although the paper is mainly empirical in its character, it is based on a theoretical background, particularly when it comes to risk management in the construction industry, which is referred to in the literature on the subject as CRM (Construction Risk Management). The paper contains a review of the literature in this field and uses the method of synthesis. It emphasises the applicability and methodology of the issues discussed here, i.e. those which were verified in the empirical research conducted among construction contractors as participants of investment and construction processes.

Active learning can be described as any evidence-based strategy that seeks to engage the students during their learning process by deliberately involving them in participating in some form of meaningful activities, upon which they are subsequently tasked to think about what they have just done. It is learner-centred in its approach, thereby fostering deeper learning on the part of the student. The understanding of how people learn has developed substantially over the decades with different theories and approaches to learning haven been described by various authors in the literature. The importance of this is that all these postulated theories have offered greater insight into the learning process in particular. The current paper aims to describe the learning process and its components with a view towards providing a better understanding of the learning process, exploring some of the theoretical background that underpinned the learning and the learning process.

Purpose We conducted a systematic review of the literature regarding adult telepractice services (screening, assessment, and treatment) from approximately 2014 to 2019. Method Thirty-one relevant studies were identified from a literature search, assessed for quality, and reported. Results Included studies illustrated feasibility, efficacy, diagnostic accuracy, and noninferiority of various speech-language pathology services across adult populations, including chronic aphasia, Parkinson's disease, dysphagia, and primary progressive aphasia. Technical aspects of the equipment and software used to deliver services were discussed. Some general themes were noted as areas for future research. Conclusion Overall, results of the review continue to support the use of telepractice as an appropriate service delivery model in speech-language pathology for adults. Strong research designs, including experimental control, across multiple well-described settings are still needed to definitively determine effectiveness of telepractice services.

Abstract Educating students and informing clinicians regarding developments in therapy approaches and in evidence-based practice are important elements of the responsibility of specialist academic posts in universities. In this article, the development of narrative therapy and its theoretical background are outlined (preceded by a general outline of how the topic of fluency disorders is introduced to students at an Irish university). An example of implementing narrative therapy with a 12-year-old boy is presented. The brief case description demonstrates how narrative therapy facilitated this 12-year-old make sense of his dysfluency and his phonological disorder, leading to his improved understanding and management of the problems, fostering a sense of control that led ultimately to their resolution.
