Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common of congenital cardiovascular malformations associated with birth defects, and it results in significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. The classification of CHD is still elusive owing to the complex pathogenesis of CHD. Advances in molecular medicine have revealed the genetic basis of some heart anomalies. Genes associated with CHD might be modulated by various epigenetic factors. Thus, the genetic and epigenetic factors are gradually accepted as important triggers in the pathogenesis of CHD. However, few literatures have comprehensively elaborated the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of CHD. This review focuses on the etiology of CHD from genetics and epigenetics to discuss the role of these factors in the development of CHD. The interactions between genetic and epigenetic in the pathogenesis of CHD are also elaborated. Chromosome abnormalities and gene mutations in genetics, and DNA methylations, histone modifications and on-coding RNAs in epigenetics are summarized in detail. We hope the summative knowledge of these etiologies may be useful for improved diagnosis and further elucidation of CHD so that morbidity and mortality of children with CHD can be reduced in the near future.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) in classification of signals plays a major role in the diagnoses of heart diseases. The main challenging problem is the classification of accurate ECG. Here in this paper the ECG is classified into arrhythmia types. It is very important that detecting the heart disease and finding the treatment for the patient at the earliest must be done accurately. In the ECG classification different classifiers are available. The best accuracy value of 99.7% is produced by using the Bayes classifiers in this paper. ECG databases, classifiers, feature extraction techniques and performance measures are presented in the pre-processing technique. And also the classification of ECG, analysis of input beat selection and the output of classifiers are also discussed in this paper.

Detection and classification of faint images by eye has traditionally encountered systematic errors faintwards of 20th mag on Schmidt plates and 22nd mag on 4-meter plates. Automated classification of Schmidt plate images has pushed the classification limit to 22 mag (Kibblewhite, et al., 1975). Automated detection and classification of faint 4-meter limit plate images has recently led to statistical studies of galaxy numbers and clustering at redshifts where cosmology and galactic evolution dominate over local effects. Here we report on some aspects of the FOCAS (Faint Object Classification and Analysis System) automated classifier (Tyson and Jarvis, 1979) and compare our results of number counts in SA57 with those of Kron, 1979. Differential galaxy counts in six high latitude fields and evidence for galaxy evolution are briefly discussed.
