The structural complexity of a door causes difficulties in the description of its behavior from an acoustical point of view. In many cases, even a small change can cause a big difference in its sound-isolating properties. To determine the acoustical quality of a door, it is important to perform laboratory measurements of the door structure and door frame, the gaps including. A mathematical analysis based on experimental measurements of the sound reduction index of several door constructions was used to determine the acoustical door categories. The equations for calculating the sound reduction index, which were introduced in this paper, should help in the design of a suitable door from an acoustical point of view.

In this study, we attempted to analyze the predominant issues that have emerged from the fire door litigation process that has been conducted until recently, and to suggest alternatives. The results of analyzing the contents and outcomes of fire door litigation were confirmed by the issue of the durability period of the fire doors’ fire protection performance. Further, they were supported by the confirmation of the fire protection performance of fire doors that have already been installed, and the extent of the defect repair when the fire door performance is not confirmed. To solve these issues, performance verification must be executed at the manufacturing, delivery, and construction stages of fire doors. In the use stage, after completion, the user (Resident) should be the subject of performance maintenance. To this end, it is necessary to introduce the duty of maintenance and management of fire doors at the stage of use and the introduction of a professional inspection system that carries out inspections. Additionally, since the soundness of the fire door frame was confirmed through simulation and test results, the fire protection performance of the fire door in use can be confirmed by only separating the door. This can be achieved by excluding the door frame and conducting a test. It is considered that performance can be sufficiently secured despite the performance of the fire door being confirmed to be inferior, even if performance is improved by limiting the repair range to fire door pairs.

The development of multipurpose hydraulic door installation tool is aimed to overcome the problem during the door installation process. Normally, the door installation needs a lot of workforce starting from transporting the door to the installation site, adjusting the door clearance at the bottom part and setting the door in static with 900 position for mounting the hinge on the door frame. The design of the multipurpose hydraulic door installation tool is portable, adjustable using simple hydraulic jack and capable to transporting various types and sizes of door, i.e. wooden, plastic and steel. Through this innovation the door installation can be done individually, easier, saving the time and cost. In addition, the production cost is very reasonable and potential to use widely in the construction industry and personal usage.
