The study is based on the determination of the kinetic rates and assessment of self-purification of the Frio River, due to the uptake of organic load. The kinetic rates were calculated by applying differential and logarithmic methods on concentrations of water quality determinants present in each of the (7) reach of the river. The water system easily recovers the amount of oxygen, kd= 0.4, ka 3.2 d-1, only receives 27.7 Ton. d-1, the organic load, making high concentrations of carbon, ammonium and remain sediment. The length Influence of discharges, LIV- BOD yielded a mean per tranche of 10 km, compared to 3 km each way, means that the river can´t self- purification that need more length of travel. The study illustrates the modeling of the determinants of quality, developed by the QUAL2K, using the calculated rates.

Experimental research on the pyrolysis and gasification of randomly packed straw pellets was conducted with an emphasis on the reactive properties of the shrinking porous structure of the pellets. The apparent kinetics of such pyrolysis was approximated by the random pore, grain, and volumetric models. The best approximation results were obtained with the grain and random pore models. The self-organized oscillations of the pellet conversion rate during pyrolysis were observed. Two complementary explanations of the phenomenon are proposed.

The optical spectra and reaction kinetics of some a-aminoalkyl radicals, RĊHN(CH2R)2; R≡H, Me, Ph, were measured in solution using the technique of modulation spectroscopy. These radicals undergo diffusion controlled self-reaction with rate constants [Formula: see text]. When R≡Ph, the absorption spectrum has a well defined maximum at 346 nm; ε = 3390 M−1 cm−1, while the spectra when R≡H or Me were less intense [Formula: see text] and tailed into the visible. These spectra are substantially red-shifted when compared with those of simple alkyl radicals, an effect which is thought to be due to the interaction between the unpaired electron and the lone pair of electrons on nitrogen.
