In this study, a computer program is developed to calculate characteristics of a Chevron type gasketed plate heat exchanger (CTGPHEX) such as: the number of plates, the effective surface area and total pressure drops. The main reason to prefer the use of CTGPHEXs to other various types of heat exchangers is that the heat transfer efficiency is much higher in comparison. Working conditions such as the flow rates and inlet and outlet temperature of both flow sides and plate design parameters are used as an input in the program. The Logarithmic Mean Temperature Method and the different correlations for convective heat transfer coefficient and Fanning factor that are found in the literature are applied to calculate the minimum necessary effective heat transfer area, the number of plate and pressure drops due to friction for both fluid sides of fulfill the desired heat transfer rate. This Turkish / English language optioned user friendly computer program is targeted to be used in domestic companies to design and select CTGPHEXs for any desired working conditions.

One of the key factors in providing a crisis-resistant form of performing laboratory classes in universities in distance mode is educational computer programs in the form of virtual laboratory works. Such software provides students to get proper practical experience working with technological equipment in absence of direct contact with the teacher and real laboratory units. They are also an alternative to real physical laboratory units and can be used by students in event of physical wear and tear of laboratory equipment or its complete absence. The article presents an educational computer program designed for laboratory works on five virtual laboratory units to the discipline “Heat supply of forest enterprises” for students to master materials on the following topics: “Determination of fuel humidity”; “Determination of the yield of volatile substances and coke”; “Determination of fuel ash content”; “Determination of the heat of combustion of solid fuel”; “Analysis of flue gases”. The authors showed the principle of performing all virtual laboratory works on the example of one laboratory work, identified the advantages of presented computer program and indicated high significance and efficiency of its use. The developed program is successfully used by students of Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology, allows you to hold laboratory works in distance mode and reduce the time for their implementation by accelerating the simulated processes.

The article considers the issue of educational computer program development: the stages, blocks, aspects and peculiarities. The definition of an educational computer program as a means of information and communication technologies, created for the development of skills and abilities related to foreign language competence is given taking into account the psycholinguistic patterns of reading a text, methodical approach to teaching reading fiction via information and communication technologies . It was distinguished that educational computer program as a software for educational purposes can be offered as a system consisting of two main components: informational and software implementation. The development of educational computer programs suitable for educational institutions involves continuous interaction between the author of educational materials and the programmer. The process of creating a qualitative educational computer programme consists of certain stages: preparation of source materials; development of the programme structure of educational computer program; creation of a software product; aligning and adjustment; implementation of educational computer program; testing software product; educational computer program updating and error correction. The article describes the created educational program "English for Philologists: aspect of reading" that meets the criteria of correspondence and the criteria for evaluating computer programs for teaching foreign languages taking into account the peculiarities of digital text. The experimental introduction of the computer program «English for Philologists: aspect of reading», comparison of the average indicators of pre- and post-experimental sections in experimental groups and the growth by12% have showed that the training for future teachers of English language reading fiction via the educational computer programme «English for Philologists: aspect of reading» has proved to be effective: all the groups have reached the required level of reading comprehension.

A graph drawing algorithm is presented which results in complete graphs having minimum crossings equal to that of Guy's conjecture. It is then generalized and formulated in an evolutionary algorithm (EA) to perform constrained search for the crossing numbers. The main objective of this work is to present a suitable two-dimensional scheme which can greatly reduce the complexity of finding crossing numbers by using computer. Program performance criteria are presented and discussed. It is shown that the EA implementation provides good confirmation of the predicted crossing numbers.

We present a new method for adding a voice track to either educational or training computer programs. The voice track is prerecorded and played back on a standard cassette recorder. A problem with tape recorders has, in the past, been a lack of synchronization between the computer-generated screen and the tape recorder output. We have developed a low cost controller which interfaces the tape recorder and also provides the required synchronization. We explain how the controller is used within a computer program and describe the controller's components. This new method of providing a voice track offers several advantages over methods involving voice synthesizers.
