This paper shows the project risk management methods, which allow to better identify risks in the construction of high-rise buildings and to manage them throughout the life cycle of the project. One of the project risk management processes is a quantitative analysis of risks. The quantitative analysis usually includes the assessment of the potential impact of project risks and their probabilities. This paper shows the most popular methods of risk probability assessment and tries to indicate the advantages of the robust approach over the traditional methods. Within the framework of the project risk management model a robust approach of P. Huber is applied and expanded for the tasks of regression analysis of project data. The suggested algorithms used to assess the parameters in statistical models allow to obtain reliable estimates. A review of the theoretical problems of the development of robust models built on the methodology of the minimax estimates was done and the algorithm for the situation of asymmetric “contamination” was developed.

In the article, the evolution of project risk management processes in the six sequential editions of the PMBOK Guide standard, developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI), is analysed. Special attention is paid to the last edition of the PMBOK Guide standard. The PMI approach to the project risks management is compared with the outlooks of the other most well- known standards and methodologies of project management.

Current trends show that education in the field of project risk management is a very actual topic. Long - term projects, which was realized in 2018, was mainly focused on R&D across the world. Short - term projects, was focused on innovation and improve manufacturing processes. Many projects failed because project managers did not manage project risks. Project managers have less knowledge and skills on how to effectively manage project risks, especially risks in the planning phase of projects. The main aim of this article is to analyze the current state of usage project risk assessment across the world, based on own empirical research, which was provided, by authors in 2018 and 2019 (mainly level of usage project risk management methods, experience and level of education). The research focused on analyzing the current state of project risk assessment among continents. The authors focused on the average level of use qualitative and quantitative project risk analysis by project managers, level of project risk management experience by project managers and complexity of learning in using of qualitative and quantitative project risk management methods and tools. Some recommendation were established to educate project managers in the field of project risk management.

During the last years, the development of the project risk management competencies became a ubiquitous objective for education and training in project management due to the increasing constraints which companies face on the implementation of their projects. Alignment to the professional standards and usage of innovative methods in designing and delivery of instruction represent common requirements that education and training providers should consider and fulfill. The authors examine the main challenges in addressing project risk management subject in the education programmes and identify how these challenges could be dealt by using curriculum management systems. In order to implement the identified improvements, the authors propose an innovative architecture for a curriculum management system, which can be adopted by those universities interested in developing competencies-based programmes in project management. Some preliminary results are presented and discussed.

Because of their specific and complex characteristics, construction projects are exposed to numerous risks of various natures, which make their management more difficult. In this setting, Project Risk Management is an indispensable activity for their successful delivery. It consists in the risk identification, assessment, prioritization, treatment, monitoring and control. This paper presents a novel approach for the identification of construction project risks and a network theory-based methodology for their modelling and analysis. These models serve as a powerful tools comparing to classical methods and provide a support for decision-making regarding Project Risk Management. A case study of a real construction project is used to illustrate these findings.

Background. In projects of electrical switchboard delivery we can identify many risks which are usually quite severe in their consequences, because these projects are high-budget projects. Our studies indicate that there are no formalised risk management procedures in many Polish companies that realise such projects. Research aims. Therefore we propose using a traditional risk management procedure adapted for projects of electrical switchboard delivery what was verified on the example of a selected company. Methodology. We use the following research methods: analysis of the documentation relating to completed projects of electrical switchboard delivery, interviews with project managers, and literature studies. Key findings. We obtained the following results: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), list of identified project risks, list of risk responses, computer tool for managing identified risks in projects of electrical switchboard delivery. Based on the completed studies we can state that risk management is an important element of electrical switchboard delivery and should not be ignored in companies that realise such projects.

Traditional application of project risk management is limited to identifying and addressing project risks and then developing cost along with schedule contingencies. This paper proposes a method to consistently utilize the project risk management methods during Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of project development to select engineering design options. This method was called for recently to make several key engineering design decisions in a mega-project (case study). It allows significantly accelerate decision making and successfully manage various types of bias through leveraging the structure and visualization it provides. The proposed method is also applicable for engineering change management in any phase including operations.

The article discusses the formation of the system of risk management and evaluation of the effectiveness of integrated project risk management in the space rocket sector. The classification of the integrated project risks for knowledge-based enterprise in the space rocket sector and credit institution was made. The main methods of project risks evaluation, which can be applied in the space rocket sector, are described. The scheme of integrated project risk management was made on the basis of the life cycle approach when implementing projects in the space rocket sector. When implementing project risks in the space rocket sector, an enlarged scheme of the Regulations on Integrated Project Risk Management System, was developed. An issue of integrated risk management in the space rocket sector using a system of measures being named the “Value-at-Risk” (VaR) was reviewed. It was concluded that there was a need for project implementation in the space rocket sector using a complex, effective, and integrated system of risk management.
