In order to carry out the main tasks of the Military to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation and the state, the educated, trained and professional soldiers are needed. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously improve work motivation and performance of all soldiers. The research was carried out on 200 Personnels at military education institutions to obtain data on relationships between variables. The data was processed with the structural equation model and was continued with system dynamics to obtain simulations that reflect the relationship model between variables. Based on the compiled system dynamics model, the conclusions and suggestions for improvement leadership style and motivation in order to improve the soldier’s performance can be obtained. The results showed that: system dynamics can be used to model soldier’s performance. It was needed to increase the transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style and motivation in order to improve the performance of soldiers. Some efforts can be made to improve performance through leadership styles such as reward and punishment and encourage innovation, creativity, and inspiration from leaders.

Abstract- The research objectives were to determine: 1) The description of performance, organizational culture, education and training, competence and work motivation of Indonesian National Police members at the Traffic Directorate of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police; 2) The influence of organizational culture, education and training, competence and work motivation on the performance of Police members at the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Traffic Directorate. The study was conducted on all members of the East Nusa Tenggara Police Traffic Directorate with 145 respondents. The data collected were analyzed descriptively based on the results of processed data using the method of Structural Equation Model. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the achievement of the indicators for each variable is as follows: Performance = 67.68 (Good Enough), Organizational Culture = 68.84 (Good), Competence = 67.93 (Good Enough), Education and Training = 67.45 (Good Enough), and Work Motivation = 68.55 (Good). Furthermore, the results of SEM analysis showed that Organizational Culture, Education and Training, Competence and Work Motivation had a positive and significant effect on the Performance of the investigated Police Members. This research is still limited to the 4 variables used so that testing is needed on other variables such as; leadership style, compensation, work atmosphere, work facilities and others with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. Keywords: Performance; Organizational Culture; Education and Training; Competence; Work Motivation

This study has investigated the effects of leadership style on organizational performance in small scale enterprises. The major objective was to determine effect of leadership styles on performance in small scale enterprises. Transformational and transactional leadership styles were considered in this study. Transformational leadership behaviours and performance/outcome considered relevant in the study were charisma, inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation/individual consideration; and effectiveness, extra effort and satisfaction, respectively. Transactional leadership bahaviours and performance/outcome variables were constructive/contingent reward and corrective/management by exception; and effort, productivity and loyalty/commitment, respectively. The study followed a survey design, and employed evaluative quantitative analysis method. Analysis was based on primary data generated through a structured Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) administered on respondents. Responses to research statements were scaled and converted to quantitative data via code manual developed for the study to enable segmentation of the data responses into dependent and independent variables based on leadership behaviours and associated performance variables. OLS multiple regression models were specified, estimated and evaluated. The result showed that while transactional leadership style had significant positive effect on performance, transformational leadership style had positive but insignificant effect on performance. The study concluded that transactional leadership style was more appropriate in inducing performance in small scale enterprises than transformational leadership style and, therefore, recommended transactional leadership style for the small enterprises with inbuilt strategies for transition to transformational leadership style as the enterprises developed, grew and matured.

This study is first of its kind to investigate the influence of leadership style on employee trust, employee morale and employee emotion in the context of steel industry. This set of three employee outcomes is studied in a conceptual framework comprising of a seven-month study, with a sample of 272 workers of steel firms in Chhattisgarh state, the central part of India. SmartPLS 2.0 is used to perform confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling to analyse and validate the conceptual framework. The study makes a twofold contribution. First, it finds that transactional leadership style has a negative influence on employee outcomes. Second, it suggests that managers of steel firms use transformational leadership style to enhance employee outcomes. This study reveals that the outcome of a steel firm’s employee is aligned better with transformational leadership style, rather than the transactional leadership style.

This study aims to analyze if transformational leadership and work motivation affect work engagement which in turn affect Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). We also analyze whether work engagement mediates the effect of transformational leadership and work motivation on OCB. Using census method, our sample in this study is 73 civil servants in the Education Office in Surakarta Municipality. The sample taken for this study is all employees with census method, thus, resulting in 73 people as samples. From the analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), we find that transformational leadership positively and significantly affect OCB, this implies that leader’s attitude that inspires and motivates subordinate, stimulates creativity and innovation of subordinate, train and provide direction for subordinate, will improve subordinate OCB. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on OCB. Employee’s work motivation affects the development of employee’s job attachment to their organization. If the work motivation is higher, the OCB behavior will be stronger. Thus extra role behavior will increase. Also, we also find that transformational leadership and work motivation indirectly affect OCB through employee work engagement. The implication this study brings to Surakarta Municipality Education Office is to improve transformational leadership style because the style has been proven to be able to improve work engagement and OCB. Thus, it is necessary for the leaders in the office to be open-minded or open to changes that will benefit the organization either in system or technology. Besides that, the result also brings implication to Surakarta Municipality Education Office to consider subordinate’s work motivation
