Data fusion with different types of data that used for grid fault location can bring more accurate and clear results. Therefore, a new method for fault location which contains multi grid current and voltage, time and coordinate data information is proposed. Transient traveling wave is analyzed for determine the required data information in the first place, and then affirm the positioning principle and the selection rules of positioning network according to characteristics of multi fault traveling wave. Finally, Grid fault location will be precisely positioned by applying multiple data grid fault location algorithm. Simulation results shows that the proposed method is feasible, and the new algorithm has higher positioning accuracy.

An adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller of nonlinear systems is presented based on data fusion method. It reduces the input dimension of the controller using data fusion technique and simplifies the fuzzy controller’s design. The fuzzy controller was designed with self-learning of neural networks. The simulation results show that the performance of the system is superior to that using conventional fuzzy controller. It is rewarding for the research on combination of data fusion method and intelligent control technique of nonlinear systems.

In order to enhance the reliability of traveling wave fault location (TWFL) systems, an improved wide area traveling wave fault location (WA-TWFL) algorithms is presented in this paper. In the disturbance area that near to the fault position, we can first get the possible fault positions by using the outgoing path data from the substation that first records the initial traveling wave, then use the possible fault position to verify the reasonableness of data recorded. The fault position that has no counter-example in logical is the real fault position. EMTP simulation verifies the validity and applicability of this algorithm.

Aiming at the shortcoming of the classical method of optical theodolite projection intersection named ́R ́ method and traditional data fusion method named point-by-point EMBET method, this paper advances the function restriction EMBET method which is based on multi-optical theodolites. Comparing with the three methods by simulation experiment, it demonstrates that the function restriction EMBET method has higher positioning accuracy and stronger practicability than two traditional methods. Furthermore, this method supplies the important reference value for engineering application.

By using the advantages of C-type of traveling wave fault location method in distance measuring and the pattern recognition function of support vector machines (SVM),a new fault location method is presented.The first step of the method is determining the fault distance by C-type of traveling wave location method; the second one is locating the fault section by SVM. It also adopts the wavelet to reduce the noise of fault signal,and the accuracy can be more precise when the parameters of SVM are optimized.The simulation results of ATP and MATLAB show that the method can determine the single phase grounding fault point in 10kv distribution networks with branches accurately.
