The purpose of this chapter is to explore the role of trust or confidence through the managerial lens. The chapter aims to acquire empirical evidence regarding the importance of factors that play a role in fostering trust during procurement decision making exemplified through a New Zealand-owned company, ContainerCo. This exploratory study scrutinises trust as perceived by SME managers in the supply chain of logistics and procurement in New Zealand. It uses the repertory grid analysis and is based on two interviews conducted through the repertory grid technique, a semi-structured method. Although different in every company and country, trust plays a major role during the selection of suppliers. Factors such as reliability and value are regarded as the most important ones for choosing the right supplier in the case of ContainerCo.

The role of emotions in decision-making has been explored by others and has revealed that both immediate emotions, those present at the time of the decision, and expected emotions, those expected to result from a decision, effect which alternative will be chosen (Lowenstein, 2001). The significance of emotions in behavior decisions has also been estimated as it relates to product and service choice (Morris, 2002). This research employs a mixed-method design to understand the role emotions play in making decisions regarding ethical behavior. The research applies a validated technique for measuring human emotions to determine whether there is an emotional reaction to the mere consideration of unethical behavior and which emotions, if any, respond to the thought of unethical behavior.

Purpose – This paper addresses horizontal supply chain collaboration among autonomous freight carriers in the less-than-truckload industry. The main purpose of the paper is to identify and explain the challenges with joint operational decision-making in this context and investigate the precise role of information technology (IT) therein. Design/methodology/approach – Empirical evidence is gathered by means of exploratory and explanatory case research, with multiple cases at the planning departments of European freight carriers operating in collaborative transportation networks. Findings – Collaborating carriers face fundamental challenges in joint operational planning and control of collaborative transportation, despite the broad availability of state-of-the-art IT. These operational supply chain challenges can be explained by technological differences of the available IT applications, which hinder integration. Research limitations/implications – Any expectations with regard to state-of-the-art XML or EDI-based IT integration for improved joint operational decision-making in collaborative transportation networks should be considered with care. In particular, the authors' research findings may encourage practitioners to consider new planning and control procedures and develop dedicated IT applications for collaborating freight carriers. Originality/value – The paper highlights the importance of horizontal supply chain collaboration for small and medium-sized freight carriers in the less-than-truckload industry and conceptualises how collaborative transportation networks are organised. Furthermore, an IT typology is introduced to explain the challenges with joint operational decision-making.

The article considers practical aspects of automated system optimization in production. Optimal organization of all business processes and monitoring aiming at greater efficiency and profitability of the enterprise is often the main problem of management. For operational decision-making, information about the operation of all company divisions is needed. Obtaining, processing, and presenting such information in the form applicable for further actions, needs a simple convenient tool. A system of enterprise operation automation is designed to perform the role of such a useful auxiliary.The purpose of the present study is to develop and test new modules automating accounting characteristic of the organization and extending beyond the standard solutions, as well as to prove that increasing the collection efficiency of information about the enterprise operation entails a reduction in the complexity of work associated with the accounting and payroll.

هدف البحث إلى الكشف عن دور الذكاء الإداري في مراحل صنع قرار الائتمان المصرفي. حيث تناول البحث أربعة أبعاد للذكاء الإداري, وهي: الرؤية، السلوك الذكي، أسلوب الإتصال، والتغذية العكسية بهدف اختبار علاقتها مع مراحل صنع قرار الائتمان المصرفي،   استخدمت الاستبانة لجمع بيانات الجانب الميداني حيث وزعت على المديرين في (20) من فروع المصارف  الاهلية العاملة ضمن محافظة دهوك واربيل وفروعها ، وبلغ عدد افراد العينة (90) من المديرين في تلك المصارف  .استخدمت عدة ادوات احصائية لاختبار فرضيات الدراسة ومنها النسب المئوية  والتوزيعات التكرارية والمتوسطات الحسابية والانحرافات المعيارية وتحليل الانحدار البسيط والمتعدد . تمثلت الاستنتاجات الرئيسة بوجود علاقات ارتباط معنوية موجبة بين أبعاد الذكاء الإداري ومراحل صنع قرار الائتمان المصرفي ووجود علاقات تاثيرية معنوية موجبة بينهما. تضمنت الدراسة عدد من التوصيات للمصارف المبحوثة تساهم في كيفية تعزيز مستويات الذكاء الإداري لدى إداراتها, وكذلك ترشيدها لكيفية صنع قرارات الائتمان المصرفي بشكل أفضل  ومنها العمل على تعزيز معارف, ومهارات الذكاء الإداري لدى المديرين في المصارف المبحوثة, وبخاصة الذين يتخذون قرارات الائتمان المصرفي من خلال إشراكهم في الدورات التدريبية, وان تركز هذه الدورات على إكسابهم المعرفة والمهارات في المجالات وضع الرؤية المستقبلية لتوجهات المصارف, وكيفية نشرها بين العاملين واقناعهم بها واتخاذ السلوك الذكي الذي يسمح للمدير بأن يرتقي إلى مستويات أعلى من الإنجاز ليصبح قدوة لمرؤوسيه.
