Configuration of characters in a story is a representative manifestation that is able to communicate the order and value of cultural distinctiveness inherent in him. Along with the phenomenon of globalization, through the practice of appropriation, the various exclusive elements and knowledge of certain groups of society are reconstructed into new cultural entities, even if they do not originate in the space and time in which they created. The configurations Son Goku in manga (typical Japanese comic) Dragon Ball is a transcultural myth of elements in the classic Chinese novel Journey to The West mixed with the popular modern serial story of Superman from the American DC Comics and King Kong, as well as the mythology of lycanthropy from Europe. Through further investigation, the source taken in the Son Goku configuration is suspected of having a relationship with elements and knowledge of different spaces and past times (archaic), so that he is not just a popular myth, he is a collection of texts from various cultural civilizations that are scattered all over the earth.

Geochronological research of the Lincang Batholith is one key scientific problem to discuss the tectonic evolution of the Tethys. Two granitic specimens were selected from the Mengku-Douge area in the Lincang Batholith to perform the LA-ICPMS Zircon U-Pb dating based on thorough review of petrological, geochemical, and geochronological data by the former scientists. Rock-forming age data of biotite granite specimen from Kunsai is about 220 Ma, the Norian age. However, the west sample from Mengku shows 230 Ma, the Carnian age. The later intrusion in Kunsai area located east to the Mengku area shows directly their uneven phenomena in both space and time and may indirectly reflect the space difference of the contraction-extension transformation period of the deep seated faults. Considering the former 40Ar/39Ar data and the outcrop in Mengku, the Lincang Batholith should have experienced one tectonic exhumation and regional subsidence cycle. The regional subsidence cycle has close relations to the expansion of the Meso Tethys.

Ritual of badong is held in funeral ceremony of rambu solo in traditional belief of aluk to dolo/alukta in Toraja’s society, it was song and dance without music, and symbolic, verse of badong shown religious values of aluk to dolo/alukta. In data analysis, the study used descriptive qualitative and cosmology perspective in approaching the analysis. The aim of this study is want to know the relationship between being of universe and religious spirit of aluk to dolo/alukta which is stated in verse of badong in cosmology perspective. The result of the study is to find out the relationship between religious spirit of aluk to dolo/alukta in verse of badong and the space and time in orderliness of cosmos. They believed that after the death process, souls of the body will have a journey to reach a new place named puya, and the meaning of the death in belief of aluk to dolo/alukta is a way or transform the souls of the body from old world to the new world, puya is a village of soul of to dolo/tomembali puang (ancestors) authorized by Pong Lalondong, and puya in cosmology perspective was being at the west point of the earth.

The goals of the present work are to compare TOPEX/Poseidon (T/P) significant wave height (HS) with buoy data off the West Coast of Portugal and to evaluate the performance of wave period algorithms. Altimeter and buoy data are compared according to co-location criteria proposed in literature. A new method for analysing the variation of quality parameters in the space and time domains is presented. The use of wave group velocity as a way of relating space and time lags is also proposed. Local calibrations for T/P HS are computed, with the interval of degradation of TOPEX altimeter considered separately. It is found that an algorithm for mean wave zero-crossing period (ZT) can be used in the region under consideration, the root mean square error (Erms) being lower than 0.7 s if local coefficients are used.

Even if the foundation, rise and eventual demise of Carthage and its overseas territories in the West Mediterranean occurred in much the same space and time as the glory days of Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic Greece and Rome, there is no doubt that the Phoenicians and their Punic successors (to use the conventional terms) have rarely been regarded as fully signed-up members of the ancient world. Reduced to walk-on cameos as skilled silversmiths, agricultural experts, shrewd traders or military strategists, Phoenician and Punic representations tend to be rather stereotypical (Prag 2010, with earlier bibliography), which perhaps should not come as a surprise, as nearly all these portraits have been sketched by outsiders; they certainly do not add up to a coherent ethnographic or political description.

‘Time until Newton’ begins by describing the historical origin of calendars and mathematical ways of representing time. It discusses the Aristotelian worldview, which formed the dominant understanding of the Universe in the West from the time of Aristotle until the 17th century when Newton proposed his theory of motion. This was the first physical theory in the mathematical form that we expect nowadays and by making space and time subjects of scientific investigation Newton forever changed the way that people studied space and time. After the publication of his theory, a debate about whether space and time were entities or systems of relations broke out between Newton and the philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. A series of letters between Leibniz and the philosopher Samuel Clarke focusing on this question introduced the mathematical tools of symmetry and invariance that would become important in subsequent study of the structure of space and time.

abstract On August 1, 1975, a magnitude 5.9 (mb) earthquake occurred approximately 8 km SSE of the town of Oroville, California. This earthquake and its associated foreshock-aftershock sequence are of particular interest because of their possible relation to the impounding of the 4.3 billion m3 Lake Oroville. Hypocenter locations for 336 aftershocks that occurred during August define a fault plane striking N3°E and dipping 60° to the west to a depth of 10 km. Dimensions of the epicentral area are approximately 7 km in an east-west direction by 15 km in a north-south direction. The fault plane passes beneath Oroville Dam at 5-km depth, and if projected up dip, would crop out beneath the reservoir to the east. The distribution in space and time of foreshocks and aftershocks suggests that rupture began at depth and progressed up dip and to the north and south.
