We considered the processes of chromium plating the inner surfaces of the components of cylinders with hydrostatic guideways. We demonstrated the various aspects of the chromium plating process – the limitations placed on the machinery depending on the dimensions of the parts to be plated and the unevenness of the deposition rate of chromium along the length of the part. We developed a diagram of an installation for the application of a hard chromium coating on inner surfaces, which includes a cathode, an anode, a tank, and a pipeline. The distinctive features of the installation are the method of supplying the electrolyte at an angle to the horizontal, which allows us to supply the electrolyte through a turbulent flow swirling along a helical path, and the use of a chromium-plated installation casing. We studied various modes for applying a hard chromium coating on the inner surfaces of a hydraulic cylinder. As a result, we determined the optimal composition of the chromium electrolyte – the ratio of chromic anhydride and sulfuric acid – which is 10:1, respectively, and experimentally selected deposition modes. Chromium coatings obtained through the use of the concentrated electrolyte, which we developed, and the chromium plating method have 5...20% greater hardness and a 10...30-times reduction in porosity with the formation of a shiny, lumpy sludge, which corresponds to corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant coatings needed to manufacture hydraulic drives with highly efficient hydrostatic guideways.

The zirconium dioxide as basic material is suitable to machine by tool with regular edge derivingfrom lower ceramic hardness and from other characteristics so in case of piece production or small – andmedium series production, at quick prototype production can become potential material alike. The aims tocompare the arising frictional characteristics in case of dry friction condition in case of ceramic – steelsurface pairs machined with different sets. We have developed for an equipment to carry out tribologicaltests. During the test we pressure the steel counter face with determined normal direction force thecasing surface of the rotating ceramic specimen and in the meantime we measure the value of the frictionforce with force meter cell. We have calculated the friction coefficient characterizing the system from thenormal direction force and the friction force as well as we measured the wear of the steel specimen andits deformation.

The rheological properties, processes of structure and phase formation of the Al2O3–ZrO2 system compositions obtained by the sol-gel method have been investigated. The temperature range of crystallization of the compositions is 900–1100 °C. With an increase in the concentration of zirconium dioxide in the system, the temperature of the transition from the tetragonal to the monoclinic phase decreases. The effect of the ratio of the components in the initial solutions and the temperature regime of heat treatment of gels on the physicochemical properties of nanopowders and sintered materials has been studied. Ceramic materials of eutectic composition give the highest density and lower values of porosity and water absorption.

Abstract In place of brittle ceramics used so far have appeared up-to-date so-called tough ceramic materials resisting better against mechanical effects [1]. Such material is the zirconium-dioxide, too. The important advantage of hard-turning is the applicability of universal tool. Various outlines can be formed by a tool given. Machining ceramics in case of using traditional machining (turning, milling, drilling) requires special technological conditions (tools, machine-tools, technological parameters, etc.) [2] which are developing presently. We would like extending our research work in this course, too.
