This paper presents an analytical method on the investigation of the motion characteristics of a class of spatial mechanical components involving the ball-and-trunnion type of joint, namely, the multiple-pode joint. Algebraic derivations of the input-output equation and explicit relations for motion parameters are presented for these joints as well as their shaft couplings. From this general displacement analysis, some insights into the basic nature and behavior of the multiple-pode joint are observed and interpreted. The creation of shaft couplings using these joints and their functional analysis are also illustrated in several cases.

Eco-designed products can contribute to sustainable development if consumers choose them rather than the less environmentally friendly alternatives and if they are used properly. However, eco-design methods have so far failed to address the issue of unsustainable behaviors, whose sources have not been recognized. In light of this deficiency, the authors have analyzed a large number of eco-designed products with the aim to capture the possible unsustainable behaviors arising from their use and consumption. The subsequent characterization of unsustainable behaviors has led to the creation of a framework of unsustainable behaviors, which has been subjected to the evaluation of a pool of experts in the field. In its final version, the framework includes nine classes of unsustainable behaviors, which are categorized into the corresponding product lifecycle phases (purchase, use, end of life), and different kinds of undesired effects (harmful, insufficient, excessive) based on the TRIZ-oriented functional analysis. The classes, whose significance has been checked in the literature, include frequent causes of unsustainable behaviors and corresponding examples. Through the framework, designers can take into due account the possible circumstances that would prevent their developed products from being prone to unsustainable behaviors. In a future step, the classes of unsustainable behaviors are to be linked with indications arising from Design for Sustainable Behavior.

AbstractThe Brazilian research in occupational therapy is going through a historical moment of changes, with the creation of the first master's and doctoral occupational therapy program in South America. We aim to present the Laboratory of Functional Analysis and Assistive Technology (LAFATec) from of its historical, scope and objectives, structure of the laboratory and relate the investigations carried out from different dimensions of doing in occupational therapy. In nearly a decade of the laboratory, we had achievements and a reflection over what, where and how research continues in process, with the purpose of design the profile of LAFATec according to the needs of the population assisted by the services of occupational therapy, based on the discussions about research on the profession and also interdisciplinary partnerships with other areas of knowledge. Keywords: Knowledge; Research; Occupational therapy; Universities.

This article aims at an analysis of agreements as to succession from the perspective of private international law. All forms of succession agreements are considered, including mutual wills. The study also contains references to comparative law in the field. The relevant provisions of Regulation (EU) No 650/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and acceptance and enforcement of authentic instruments in matters of succession and on the creation of a European Certificate of Succession – are analyzed. 650/2012, distinguishing between unilateral and bi- or multilateral pacts, as well as between the admissibility of pacts and issues related to their validity, including binding force and provisions on termination. The article concludes with a functional analysis dedicated to adapting the effects of agreements as to succession, wich are valid according to the hypothetical succession law, given that the lex successionis is hostile to them. More specifically, there is the issue of protecting the interests of force heirs by reference to the law applicable to the succession.

The document presents the experimental reference library for wear traces and residues on stone tools that has been created at TraceoLab, University of Liège, Belgium. This collection has been named TRAIL (“Traces In Liège”) and intends to provide a route (a trail) towards improved understanding of archaeological wear traces and residues. Through that means, it aims to contribute to an improved understanding of prehistoric stone tools, technologies, site function and past human behaviour. TRAIL has been gradually build up since the creation of TraceoLab in 2012. Since only part of the collection has been integrated in publications up to now, general details are included here on how the reference library is composed. This document serves as a basis to understand the composition of TRAIL and to gain insight in which publications of TraceoLab members contain what parts of the TRAIL reference library. This document will be gradually expanded upon as experiments proceed.

Abstract Tomasello offers a compelling account of the emergence of humans’ sense of obligation. We suggest that more needs to be said about the role of affect in the creation of obligations. We also argue that positive emotions such as gratitude evolved to encourage individuals to fulfill cooperative obligations without the negative quality that Tomasello proposes is inherent in obligations.
