Background/objectives Several studies have indicated that stress is associated with common mental disorders, and work stress trebles the risk of developing them. However, a validated assessment tool for measuring and establishing psychological stress correlates in this group of clients remains unavailable. The objectives of the present study were to examine the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (CPSS-10) on people with common mental disorders with different employment statuses and explore its correlates. Methods Two hundred and fifty-two participants with common mental disorders were recruited. The data were analysed through exploratory factor and confirmatory analyses to investigate construct validity. The convergent and discriminant validities were examined based on their correlation with other measures, while the internal consistency was estimated using Cronbach’s α coefficient. A t-test was used to detect differences between groups. The CPSS-10 correlates were explored using multiple linear regression analysis. Results Principal component analysis with varimax rotation yielded two factors, which accounted for 63.82% of the total variance, while confirmatory factor analysis confirmed its factor structure. The CPSS-10 had a positively moderate to strong correlation with other measures, thereby indicating its acceptable convergent and discriminant validities. The internal consistency ranged from acceptable to good for the two subscales and ten overall items, while the item-total correlation was adequate except for the seventh item. There were no group differences in gender nor employment status. Finally, the CPSS-10 predictors were studied. Conclusion The CPSS-10 is a reliable and valid instrument for people with common mental disorders with different employment statuses.

(1) Background: The COVID-19 outbreak has created pressure in people’s daily lives, further threatening public health. Thus, it is important to assess people’s perception of stress during COVID-19 for both research and practical purposes. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) is one of the most widely used instruments to measure perceived stress; however, previous validation studies focused on specific populations, possibly limiting the generalization of results. (2) Methods: This study tested the psychometric properties of three versions of the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale (CPSS-14, CPSS-10, and CPSS-4) in the Chinese general population during the COVID-19 pandemic. A commercial online survey was employed to construct a nationally representative sample of 1133 adults in Mainland China (548 males and 585 females) during a one-week period. (3) Results: The two-factor (positivity and negativity) solution for the three versions of the CPSS showed a good fit with the data. The CPSS-14 and CPSS-10 had very good reliability and the CPSS-4 showed acceptable reliability. Scores on all three versions of the CPSS were significantly correlated in the expected direction with health-related variables (e.g., depression, anxiety, and perceived COVID-19 risk), supporting the concurrent validity of the CPSS. (4) Conclusions: All three versions of the CPSS appear to be appropriate for use in research with samples of adults in the Chinese general population under the COVID-19 crisis. The CPSS-10 and CPSS-14 both have strong psychometric properties, but the CPSS-10 would have more utility because it is shorter than the CPSS-14. However, the CPSS-4 is an acceptable alternative when administration time is limited.

Background: Job stress of mental health professionals can have a negative impact on them, particularly their psychological health and mortality, and may also affect organizations' and institutions' ability to provide quality mental health services to patients.Aim: This study aimed to: (1) investigate the validity and reliability of the Korean Mental Health Professionals Stress Scale (K-MHPSS), (2) develop K-MHPSS cut-off points to measure clinical depression and anxiety, and (3) examine whether specific stressors vary by area of expertise.Methodology: Data were collected via an online survey over 3 months, from August to October 2020. An online survey using a survey website was administered to volunteers who accessed the link and consented to participate. Data from 558 participants (200 clinical psychologists, 157 nurses, and 201 social workers) were included in the final analysis. Confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses were conducted to examine the factor structure of the K-MHPSS; concurrent validity of the scale was determined by analyzing correlation; internal consistency was determined by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. In addition, ROC curve analysis and Youden's index were used to estimate optimal cut-off points for K-MHPSS; one-way ANOVA was performed to investigate the difference among the three groups.Results: The seven-factor model of the original scale did not be replicated by Korean mental health professionals. The K-MHPSS had the best fit with the six-factor model, which consists of 34 items. Concurrent validity was confirmed, and overall reliability was found to be good. The K-MHPSS cut-off points for depression and anxiety appeared to slightly different by professional groups. Furthermore, nurses and social workers showed significantly higher total scores compared to clinical psychologists, and there are significant differences in subscale scores among professionals.Conclusion: The Korean version of the MHPSS has appropriate psychometric properties and can be used to assess the occupational stress of mental health professionals. It can also serve as a reference point for screening clinical level of depression and anxiety in mental health professionals.

ABSTRAKSekolah berasrama merupakan model sekolah yang memiliki tuntutan lebih tinggi dalam hal pembangunan karakter, pengembangan kepribadian, dan penanaman nilai-nilai hidup jika dibanding dengan sekolah reguler. Tuntutan-tuntutan tersebut dapat memberikan dampak positif maupun negatif bagi kehidupan peserta didik sehingga memunculkan respon psikososial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran respon psikososial siswa asrama di Bina Siswa SMA PLUS Cisarua Provinsi Jawa Barat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi seluruh siswa asrama yang berjumlah 210 orang. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling dan didapatkan jumlah responden 138 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Psychometric Properties of The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS) yang dikembangkan oleh Lovibond & Lovibond (1995). Analisis data yang digunakan adalah univariat dengan rumus distribusi frekuensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan presentase respon psikososial pada siswa asrama hampir seluruhnya (64,5%) atau 89 orang tidak mengalami stres, hampir setengahnya (31,9%) atau 44 orang mengalami kecemasan tingkat sedang, dan hampir seluruhnya (84,1%) atau 116 orang tidak mengalami depresi. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan respon psikososial terbesar yang dialami oleh siswa asrama adalah kecemasan tingkat sedang. Saran, pihak asrama diharapkan meningkatkan pelayanan terutama layanan konsultasi atau bimbingan konseling bagi siswa asrama.ABSTRACTBoarding schools are a model of schools that have higher demands in character building, personality development, and the planting of living values when compared to regular schools. These demands can have both positive and negative effects on the learner's life resulting in a psychosocial response. This study aims to determine the description of psychosocial responses of boarding students in Bina Siswa SMA PLUS Cisarua West Java Province. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with population of all student dormitory which amounted to 210 people. Sampling in this study using proportionate stratified random sampling technique and got the number of respondents 138 people. The instruments used are Psychometric Properties of The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS) developed by Lovibond & Lovibond (1995). The data analysis used is univariate with frequency distribution formula. The results of the study showed that the percentage of psychosocial responses in the dormitories was almost entirely (64.5%) or 89 people were not stressed, nearly half (31.9%) or 44 had moderate anxiety, and almost all (84.1%) or 116 people are not depressed. The conclusions from this study indicate the greatest psychosocial response experienced by boarding students is moderate anxiety. Suggestion, the dormitory is expected to improve the service especially consultation service or counseling guidance for student dormitory.
