Folk performances reflect the life-worlds of a vast section of subaltern communities in India. What is the philosophy that drives these performances, the vision that enables as well as enslaves these communities to present what they feel, think, imagine, and want to see? Can such performances challenge social hierarchies and ensure justice in a caste-ridden society? In Cultural Labour, the author studies bhuiyan puja (land worship), bidesia (theatre of migrant labourers), Reshma-Chuharmal (Dalit ballads), dugola (singing duels) from Bihar, and the songs and performances of Gaddar, who was associated with Jana Natya Mandali, Telangana: he examines various ways in which meanings and behaviour are engendered in communities through rituals, theatre, and enactments. Focusing on various motifs of landscape, materiality, and performance, the author looks at the relationship between culture and labour in its immediate contexts. Based on an extensive ethnography and the author’s own life experience as a member of such a community, the book offers a new conceptual framework to understand the politics and aesthetics of folk performance in the light of contemporary theories of theatre and performance studies.

Managing sustainability practices holistically within firms is challenging and requires a sound and effective management framework that integrates all associated practices and performance dimensions to act for excellence. Corporate management is keen to adopt roadmap or a framework that can be useful in the identification, management and measurement of the drivers and can lead to desired outcomes relating to sustainable performance. This paper develops and presents a six-steps implementation framework for corporate sustainability performance and related practices keeping in account multifaceted managerial dimensions. These six steps include; identifying stakeholder’s requirements, establishing enterprise vision and sustainability goals, adopting strategies, systems and standardization, aligning technologies, core capabilities and culture, excelling sustainability performance, and progressing sustainable improvement with review and feedback. It also projects the perspective, theme and action items with regard to its effective.

Today country success in economic, social, political, cultural tendencies etc. … is approved to be the hostages and pawns of coherent and dynamic didactic system. The education and didactic programs for qualification improvement and dynamism need to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluation and scrutiny. Current study started with the goal of presenting faculty competency evaluation for the reason of qualitative improvement of Islamic Azad University. Research in terms of to the way of collecting and compiling the details descriptive- survey and in terms of the goal and target type is so practical that by conducting general scrutiny in literature and subject history and past, we drawn the theoretical frame and conceptual model in this study. Nominee educational members’ opinions faculty members (self-assessment), supervisors (superiors), students of (clients) Fars province different Islamic Azad Universities are as the research society. In this research, with researcher evaluation in 24 active units in Fars province, approximately 125000 persons were examined. That sample volume was selected equal to 380 persons by using the clustered random sampling method (Krejcie and Morgan formulas). For collecting data, we used a researcher-made questionnaire whose validity was confirmed by the specialists and its stability was calculated by using the Cronbach’s alpha method equal to 0.84. Researcher-made questionnaire includes effective component in competency in five general axes for collecting the data. Then, with using 360-degree evaluation method, it was executed. For the data analysis, we used the descriptive statistic method and elicitation statistic (fact oral analysis, Wilcoxon and Friedman) and the results of the study are as follows: 1. drawing the model of competency evaluation of faculty (main dimension of evaluation indexes of faculty competencies), and 2. In the field of evaluation of the current situation from the dimensions and competence skill parameters, the ethical values, role, personal, and favorable statuses are evaluated. But in the performance and functional dimensions, and its subcomponents unfavorable status and lower than average level evaluated and the results of ranking of evaluation of dimensions of competencies of faculty in order to select the most priority is related to skill dimension, and the least priority is related to the functional and performance dimensions.

PurposeThis paper aims to explore the role of human resource (HR) analytics on employees’ willingness to improve performance. In doing so, the paper examines issues related to the performance appraisal (PA) system which affect employees’ willingness to improve performance and how HR analytics can be a potential solution to deal with such issues. Design/methodology/approachThe paper develops a conceptual framework along with propositions by integrating both academic and practitioner literatures, in the field of HR analytics and performance management. FindingsThe paper proposes that the use of HR analytics will be negatively related to subjectivity bias in the PA system, thereby positively affecting employees’ perceived accuracy and fairness. This further positively affects employees’ satisfaction with the PA system, which subsequently increases employees’ willingness to improve performance. Research limitations/implicationsThe paper provides implications for both researchers and practitioners in the performance management area for improving employees’ performance by applying HR analytics as a strategic tool in the PA system. It also provides implications for future researchers to empirically test the conceptual framework in different organizational settings. Originality/valueThe paper offers insights into how the use of HR analytics can deal with issues of subjectivity bias in the PA system and positively affects employees’ willingness to improve performance.

Market orientation is the business idea that sees the customer, consumer or client as the centre of business activities. It is one of the strategies that may lead to the achievement of efficiency and effectiveness in many organizations. It has relevance for all sectors in an economy. This paper undertakes a review of market orientation literature pertaining to conceptualizations, components and performance impacts. Based on the literature review, the paper develops a conceptual framework and suggests likely areas for future research efforts.

The fields of frugal and reverse innovation as well as sustainability and its management have received tremendous interest in recent times. However, there is little literature on how both fields are related to each other. Hence, this paper gives an overview of research in both areas and provides a view of the relationship between frugal and reverse innovation, sustainability management and performance constructs. The link between frugal and reverse innovation on the one hand and sustainability performance on the other hand is established through a differentiated perspective on dimensions representing different fields of sustainability management, i.e. the sustainability of resources used in value creation, the sustainability of the actual value creation processes, and the sustainability of the outcomes of value creation processes. Moreover, we also argue for a positive link between the three dimensions of sustainability management and a company’s market performance.

This paper evaluates capital structure under risk-based capital regime from the perspective of insurance firms and its performance. It also evaluates the moderating effect of insurer’s risk profile on capital-performance relationship. The authors aim to reveal ambiguities, gaps and omissions in the literature and to sketch avenues for future research. A conceptual framework for capital structure under risk-based capital era and its application is suggested focusing on equity, technical provision and required risk propensity for maximizing profit and wealth for all stakeholders. The research reviews that capital structure of insurers differs from non-insurance firms as such risk-based capital regulation must not only focus on the various types of risk but also recognized these differences. It is shown that insurers’ capital structure contains equity and technical provisions which comprises accruals and creditors, payable claims and insurance funds as an alternative of equity and financial debt as it is with conventional non insurance firms. This study thus stressed that for capital structure to best explain performance of insurers, it must be measured by equity ratio and technical provision ratio in place of debt ratio and corporate risk profile (quantitative and qualitative) must enter its sequence of performance relational analysis and effectiveness equations. We stressed further that only with the proposed conceptual framework would a holistic understanding of insurer’s capital structure be achieved while the observed contradictory and inconclusive empirical findings on capital structure and firm performance could be resolved.

The paper initiates a comprehensive conceptual framework for an integrated simulation environment for unmanned autonomous systems (UAS) that is capable of supporting the design, analysis, testing, and evaluation from a “system of systems” perspective. The paper also investigates the current state of the art of modeling and performance assessment of UAS and their components and identifies directions for future developments. All the components of a comprehensive simulation environment focused on the testing and evaluation of UAS are identified and defined through detailed analysis of current and future required capabilities and performance. The generality and completeness of the simulation environment is ensured by including all operational domains, types of agents, external systems, missions, and interactions between components. The conceptual framework for the simulation environment is formulated with flexibility, modularity, generality, and portability as key objectives. The development of the conceptual framework for the UAS simulation reveals important aspects related to the mechanisms and interactions that determine specific UAS characteristics including complexity, adaptability, synergy, and high impact of artificial and human intelligence on system performance and effectiveness.
