One of the company's goals is business continuity. Companies can maintain their survival if supported by human resources who are also ready to follow the demands of changes in their environment. The COVID-19 pandemic is bringing very significant changes in human life today. This study aims to identify the influence of employee profiles and attitudes, subjective norms and information technology literacy on the willingness to adapt to the necessity of using information technology, especially during this pandemic time. This study uses the Theory of Reasoned Action approach as a theoretical basis, electronic questionnaires as a data collection method, and structural equation modeling to observe causal relationships between variables. The results of this study found that the model in this study had met the criteria for the model-fit test, and the only variable affecting employee attitudes was age. Subjective norm variables and information technology literacy have affected employees' intentions to adapt to information technology. The results of this study can be used by companies to design training programs that aim to improve information technology literacy and skills, especially for older employees.

Since the inception of the theory of reasoned action in late 1970s by Martin Fishbein and Icek Ajzen, the theories of reasoned action and planned behavior and, in its more recent incarnation, the reasoned action approach, have been among the most influential approaches to predicting and understanding intentional behavior. The theories have been widely applied across multiple behaviors, contexts, and populations. With their roots in attitude theory and the social cognitive tradition, the theories focus on individuals’ beliefs with respect to future performance of a given behavior. The theory of reasoned action was the earliest version of the theory. The central construct of the theory is intention, a motivational construct that is considered the most proximal determinant of behavior. Intention reflects the extent to which an individual is likely to plan to do, and invest effort in pursuing, a given behavior. Intention is conceptualized as a function of two belief-based constructs: attitudes and subjective norms. Attitudes are positive or negative evaluations of performing the behavior in future, while subjective norms reflect beliefs that significant others would want them to perform the behavior. The theory of reasoned action demonstrated effectiveness in predicting variability in people’s behavior across many contexts, populations, and behaviors. Ajzen modified the theory of reasoned action to account for behaviors that were not under the complete control of the individual. The theory of planned behavior introduced perceived behavioral control as an additional predictor of intentions. In circumstances where individuals’ perceptions of control closely reflect actual control, perceived behavioral control would determine the strength of the Intention-Behavior Relationship. When their perceived behavioral control was high, individuals would be more likely to act on their intentions. Ajzen also proposed that when perceived behavioral control closely reflects actual control, it will directly predict behavior. Fishbein and Ajzen proposed the reasoned action approach as a further development in their theory based on research. The reasoned action approach extends the theory of planned behavior by differentiating between different subcomponents of the attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control constructs in the theory of planned behavior. The popularity of the theories is due to their relative simplicity and flexibility, as well as their effectiveness in accounting for substantive variance in behavior. The theories have also served as the basis for extended theories that encompass new constructs toward developing more comprehensive explanations of behavior, and to test salient processes that determine action such as the relationship between intentions and behavior. This annotated bibliography outlines key books, chapters, and articles that chart the progress of these theories from their origins and development to their application and extension. The list of readings offered in this bibliography is not exhaustive, but aims to provide readers with a representative overview of the origins of the theories, key theoretical assumptions and debates, the empirical evidence testing the theories, and research on extensions and practical application of the theories.

AbstractAlcohol consumption is a risk factor for motor vehicle accidents in young drivers. Crashes associated with alcohol consumption typically have greater severity. This study examines the prevalence of driving under the influence among Spanish youth and tests the theory of reasoned action as a model for predicting driving under the influence. Participants included 478 Spanish university students aged 17–26 years. Findings indicated that alcohol was the substance most associated with impaired driving, and was involved in more traffic crashes. Men engage in higher levels of alcohol and other drug use, and perceived less risk in drunk driving (p < .01). The study confirms that alcohol use and driving under the influence of alcohol are highly prevalent in Spanish young people, and some gender differences exist in these behaviors (p < .01). Furthermore, the study confirms the validity of theory of reasoned action as a predictive model of driving under the influence of alcohol among youth in Spain (p < .001) and can help in the design of prevention programs.

As the bottled water market is projected to grow continuously worldwide, so is the plastic waste that pollutes the environment. The beverage industry’s marketing campaigns have played an important role in sustaining the popularity of bottled water. Social science theory-based empirical research examining how consumers make bottled water consumption decisions remains limited. To help fill this literature gap, the current study tested a conceptual framework to explore the influence of trust in bottled water advertising and perceived product knowledge on consumer beliefs about bottled water, in conjunction with theory of reasoned action. The study surveyed a sample of college students in the U.S. (N = 445). Findings showed that greater trust in bottled water advertising as well as more false knowledge and less factual knowledge were significantly related to consumer beliefs about bottled water’s product content and image. Furthermore, more favorable cognitive beliefs, affective beliefs, attitude and perceived subjective norms toward bottled water consumption were positively related to purchase intention. To reduce bottled water purchase among young adults, it would be beneficial to utilize marketing strategies to popularize and normalize carrying a reusable water bottle as an environmentally friendly habit and a preferred lifestyle choice.

Trust and faith have been described as similar constructs, although trust is secular and faith is religious in its basic nature.  This paper compares secular trust and religious faith in context with cognitive beliefs, affective feelings, conative intentions, and actual behaviors – consistent with the theoretical framework provided by the Theory of Reasoned Action.  It also identifies ten similarities between trust and faith in context with the committed actions and behaviors of the individuals who exercise that trust or faith.  Finally, the paper suggests that understanding the nature of either trust or faith increases one’s understanding of the other construct as well.
