We present our experience of two cases: one of a 28-year-old male patient who presented with recurrent episodes of urinary tract infection (UTI) with passage of pus flakes in urine and a history of open cystolithotomy about 10 months ago. The second patient was a 26-year-old woman who underwent bladder exploration for a retained Double-J stent about 10 months ago and presented with recurrent UTI. The first case was treated with open surgery and in the second case, the gauze piece was retrieved endoscopically.

Backgrounds and Objectives: About 30% of children hospitalized at least once during childhood, and about 5 percent hospitalized several times. The family is the most important source for support child patients so the family centered care is necessary. One of the main sources of stress and anxiety for the family is the crisis by the hospitalization ill children. Attention to the needs of mothers and reducing the anxiety from hospitalization is so important.   The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of family-centered care and meeting the need to learn how much of global anxiety in parents of hospitalized children. Materials and Methods: In the present Randomized clinical trial study, 70 parents of children suffering from UTI   randomly divided in two groups: control (35) and intervention groups (35). family-centered care done by researcher and participating mothers. Control group received normal care. The data gathering tool was a three-part questionnaire: personal characteristics, Krastinzdottir questionnaire and Spiel Berger’s questionnaire. Information were analyzed by using of SPSS software and chi-squared and t test. Results: The result of this study showed that the anxiety of the both group are the same and both of them are at the midrange. Range of meet information need in intervention and control group had statistically significant differences (p<0.435). Conclusions: The family-centered care is effective at range of meet information needs of hospitalized children parent’s and increase their satisfaction. ABSTRACT Proteus mirabilis, a common cause of nosocomial and catheter-associated urinary tract infection, colonizes the bladder and ascends the ureters to the proximal tubules of the kidneys, leading to the development of acute pyelonephritis. P. mirabilis is capable of swarming, a form of multicellular behavior in which bacteria differentiate from the short rod typical of members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, termed the swimmer cell, into hyperflagellated elongated bacteria capable of rapid and coordinated population migration across surfaces, called the swarmer cell. There has been considerable debate as to which morphotype predominates during urinary tract infection. P. mirabilis(pBAC001), which expresses green fluorescent protein in both swimming and swarming morphotypes, was constructed to quantify the prevalence of each morphotype in ascending urinary tract infection. Transurethral inoculation of P. mirabilis(pBAC001) resulted in ascending urinary tract infection and kidney pathology in mice examined at both 2 and 4 days postinoculation. Using confocal microscopy, we were able to investigate the morphotypes of the bacteria in the urinary tract. Of 5,087 bacteria measured in bladders, ureters, and kidneys, only 7 (0.14%) were identified as swarmers. MR/P fimbria expression, which correlates with the swimmer phenotype, is prevalent on bacteria in the ureters and bladder. We conclude that, by far, the predominant morphotype present in the urinary tract during ascending infection is the short rod-the swimmer cell.

Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a common cause of zoonotic infections in dogs and cats. Recently, there has been an increasing number of infections being reported in humans caused by this organism. We report a case of complicated urinary tract infection in an elderly patient with recent bilateral ureteral stent placement caused by this organism with associated persistent high-grade bacteraemia.
