The current trends in the construction industry, considering the magnitude and complexity of construction projects required the development of an appropriate methodology in the design, commissioning work and completion of works. The objective imposed creation of the "Office of Project Management" and all processes, tools and techniques of project management respects besides applicable standards and legislation construction, also imposed code of ethics and professional conduct of the PMI that guides practitioners professional project management, construction engineers, installers, architects etc. and describes the expectations that they have of themselves and of others.

Digital technologies have recently started to enter the construction industry, gradually changing how infrastructure, real estate and other built assets are designed, constructed, operated and maintained. Being among the least digitalized sectors, it is predicted that digital technologies will substantially increase the productivity, decrease the costs, and improve site safety of construction projects. Thus, the primary objective of this pilot study is to explore the usage of digital technologies for the 12 components of construction project management. A total of 32 respondents participated in the online survey. The results indicate that the usage of digital technologies was significantly higher in the management of scheduling, documenting, designing, and assigning costs. The aspects for digitalized safety, stakeholders, equipment, and materials are room for further improvement.

Construction project management requires effective and real time information and data communication between all the project team agencies. In present scenario when the associating agencies may be geographically separated, and for projects with large site areas or being executed in hazardous or remote sites, the required information and data communication can be achieved through use of mobile communications. But, research shows that the adoption of mobile communications by the construction industry is limited. This chapter presents the issues affecting adoption of mobile communications by the construction industry, the research background, a case study of mobile communications adoption at a major construction project in India and further discusses the factors leading to sustainable mobile communication adoption by construction project teams. Construction industry primarily comprises small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Thus, the issues are studied with focus on adoption of mobile communications by SMEs.

Abstract Construction project management is difficult process and important part of efficiency and productivity in construction industry. Currently, construction industry is increasing demands on technology, environmental and social construction parameters in the context of maintaining the balance of economic efficiency and sustainability of the construction and realization of buildings. Progressive technology as knowledge systems and building information modeling are the supporting tool for achieving this. Building information modeling is a progressive intelligent 3D model-based process that gives architecture, engineering, and construction professionals the insight and tools to more efficiently in planning, designing and buildings and infrastructure managing. Knowledge and building information modeling technology include a lot of functions and opportunities for better and easier way to achieve project goal and affect to construction project management process. Research discusses the issue of construction project management trough building information modeling and knowledge technology. The main aim of the paper is to analyze impact of these technologies on efficiency in construction project management.

Construction project management is a complicated process. The essential factors for the survival and development of construction enterprises includes focus on construction project management, improve project quality, ensure project progress, reduce project cost and improve economic efficiency. The construction market is fully open and the market competition is more intense, so the construction enterprises should establish the cost, progress, quality of the system management concept, then systemized the enterprise cost, progress and quality management work as a project and emphasize the overall. The cost, progress, quality management of the object, content, methods of analysis and research in order to achieve management innovation under an environment with safety, quality and duration of the case. Strictly control the cost of the project to minimize the project cost and create an invincible position in the market competition.

Abstract The issue of cloud computing is a highly topical issue. Cloud computing represents a new model for information technology (IT) services based on the exploitation of Web (it represents a cloud) and other application platforms, as well as software as a service. In general, the exploitation of cloud computing in construction project management has several advantages, as demonstrated by several research reports. Currently, research quantifying the exploitation of cloud computing in the Slovak construction industry has not yet been carried out. The article discusses the issue of exploitation of cloud computing in construction project management in Slovakia. The main objective of the research is to confirm whether factors such as size of construction enterprise, owner of construction enterprise and participant of construction project have any impact on the exploitation level of cloud computing in construction project management. It includes confirmation of differences in use between different participants of the construction project or between construction enterprises broken down by size and shareholders.

The Pakistani Construction Industry has always been of economic and social significance to the country. In contrast to the prospective share of Pakistani construction in the local and global economic market, conversely, the development of the sector has not been at par with the market demands. With the recent rapid economic growth of the country, Pakistan now offers a growing market for the construction industry. The Government of Pakistan has responded to this opportunity by planning extensive infrastructure expansion programs. All of these programs have the potential to lead the local Industry to establish respect, status and international recognition when the appropriate efforts are extended to achieve the same. Even with the opportunity for growth the challenges will be extensive. This research presents the current state of performance of Pakistani Construction Industry and provides directions for strategic improvement of the construction industry on a sustainable basis. Major findings of the research include: a cultural and behavioral shift in the mind-set of all participants in the construction process especially top management is necessary if the construction industry is to improve its performance and competitiveness; the “boom cycle” and corresponding shortage of labor trades has increased the need for industry participants to adopt and apply construction project management philosophy, tools and techniques to help them manage the industry performance and productivity in a sustainable long-term mode. The major obstacles to improving the performance of Pakistani construction industry were found to be lack of expertise/resources in construction project management and its applied areas. A rigid attitude and behavior of executive management toward quality, safety and risk management, plus more management and emphasis on employees’ commitment toward project performance, better education and training to drive the improvement process, and tendency to cure the cause of the problem rather than the symptom. If coordination, teamwork, productivity and industry performance in the long run is going to improve, then extensive awareness and training programs to improve the clients’ understanding and approach toward construction project management must be initiated without exception.
