Perceived Gender Differences in Performance in Science: The Case of Lesotho Secondary Schools

This study was aimed to find out the attitude towards mathematics which were communicating gender difference among secondary level students. A quantitative research approach was used to explore gender difference in relation to the attitude towards mathematics among nine graders. Fifty seven public sector schools in Lahore were selected for this research. All nine graders in public sector secondary schools were target population of current study. Eleven hundred and eighty six students were selected through multistage random sampling for present research.  A questionnaire developed by the researcher was used for exploration of gender difference in relation to students’ attitude towards mathematics at secondary level in Pakistan. It was a Lekert Scale with five points on it. The questionnaire was pilot tested and validated by experts. It was found that overall gender difference in attitude towards mathematics did not significantly exists. Therefore, the reason of difficulty in mathematics is needed to be explored for both boys and girls.

This study provides an empirical investigation of gender differences in ICT studies in selected public secondary schools. It describes gender differences in terms of students' attitude, perception, and choice of ICT subjects, parental influence, age, and religion. The study engages survey of selected public secondary schools in the region and in-depth interview of relevant stakeholders for the primary data. The study findings are anchored on existing literature, relevant theoretical positions, and data from statistical analyses. It concludes that equal opportunities in ICT studies for male and female students will empower all groups to contribute maximally to science and technology revolution for achieving needed economic and national development in the country.

This article reports on a study of secondary school students in Hanoi. The author surveyed approximately 500 students from a sample of 10 secondary schools to assess levels of environmental awareness including environmental knowing, concerning and applying. Independent variables included region of school, and the gender of students. Although there are no region and gender differences in environmental awareness, the mediating relationships are found. Báo cáo đề cập kết quả nghiên cứu nhận thức của học sinh trung học cơ sở về khía cạnh môi trường trong các nhà trường tại Hà Nội. Tác giả đã tiến hành khảo sát 500 em học sinh từ 10 trường trung học cơ sở để đánh giá mức độ nhận thức về môi trường bao gồm các biến số: hiểu biết, vấn đề liên quan và áp dụng. Các biến số độc lập bao gồm khu vực và giới tính. Mặc dù không có sự khác biệt về khu vực và giới tính trong nhận thức về môi trường, mối quan hệ điều hòa giữa các biến số được phát hiện.

The study investigated adolescents' perception of HIV/AIDS and their attitude to preventive programs. Subjects were 500 students (220 males and 280 females), ages 13 to 16 years, drawn from 10 secondary schools in Calabar, Nigeria. Data were obtained using a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Data analysis indicates that significant gender differences exist in terms of perception of HIV/AIDS in favor of the males. Significant positive relationship also was found between adolescents' perception of HIV/AIDS and attitude toward HIV/AIDS preventive programs.
