This study aims to examine the relationship between job satisfaction, pay, affective commitment, and turnover intentions of public hospitals-based Registered Nurses in Ondo State, Nigeria. Using the quantitative, cross-sectional survey design, data from 220 Registered Nurses were analysed. Results indicate that pay and job satisfaction have significant positive relationship with nurses’ affective commitment; pay has significant positive relationship with their job satisfaction but pay, job satisfaction and affective commitment have negative relationship with turnover intentions. Job satisfaction is of critical importance in gaining nurses’ affective commitment and enhancing retention. Pay is often considered as a hygiene factor in theories of motivation – meaning, even though pay decreases might cause dissatisfaction, pay increases would not increase satisfaction. This does not appear to be the case in Nigeria. These findings have implications for health human resource management in general and the management of nursing staff in the public hospitals of Ondo State, Nigeria in particular.

This study examined the relationship between digital distractions, mindfulness, and academic performance with undergraduate college students. A total of 199 students completed surveys that examined digital distractions and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (Baer et al., 2006). The results indicated that 96.5% of participants had a digital device near them when studying, and 94.0% used a digital device to help them study. The major purpose for using a digital device in the classroom was to check the time on their phone (91.0%) and text someone (88.9%). Some reasons for using a digital device for non-classroom purposes included to fight boredom (39.2%) and to stay connected with others (25.1%). Participants who had fewer digital distractions tended to be more mindful and a significant positive relationship (r = .192, p <; .05) was obtained between overall mindfulness and academic performance.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the characteristics of the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) and Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on the performance of Islamic Banks (IBs). Data were collected from 14 IBs listed on the Financial Services Authority (OJK) during 2013–2019. The multiple regression results empirically show that SSB with the academic position as professor shows a significant positive relationship on IBs performance. Meanwhile, SSB with doctoral education has no positive relationship with IBs performance. Although it is not positively correlated, doctoral education is still needed but with a background in law or sharia education, economics including finance or accounting, and muamalah. Educational background is proven to have a significant positive relationship with IBs' performance. Meanwhile, SSB, which only has a finance or accounting background, does not positively affect IBs' performance. In addition, GCG shows a very significant positive relationship with the IBs' performance. It indicates that effective and efficient governance by the Board of Directors, Board of Commissioners, and SSB through implementing better GCG and sharia principles will improve IBs performance.==========================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Bagaimana Kaitan Dewan Pengawas Syariah dan Good Corporate Governance dengan Kinerja Bank Syariah?

The article is devoted to the axiological (value-meaning) sphere of Russian students. The author analyzes the definitions and concepts of values and meanings of life in domestic and foreign psychology, pointing out that many researchers note a close relationship between these constructs. The value-meaning aspects of the personality are considered in the context of the study of spiritual capacities, i.e., their moral component. Among the subcomponents of the moral component of spiritual capacities, three blocks are identified: (1) motivational-axiological - value-meaning (spiritual and moral qualities, striving for meaning); (2) affective-motivational - selfless love (spiritual altruistic orientation, empathy); and (3) cognitive-affective - conscience. This work is focused on the motivational-axiological block. The purpose of the study is to identify whether the value-meaning sphere, considered as part of the moral component of spiritual capacities, is balanced in modern student youth, which implies the consistency of the functioning of the spiritual and moral qualities (reflecting an orientation towards higher values), and the aspiration for meaning. The research objectives are to reveal the connections between the spiritual and moral qualities and the components of the value-meaning sphere (life-meaning orientations, value Spiritual satisfaction) among students; to establish the level of manifestation of these qualities in the studied sample; and to determine the differences in all the considered indicators between the male and female respondents. The sample was made up of 196 students (males = 73%; females = 27%; М = 19.76; SD = 1.556). The following inventories were used: The Spiritual Personality Inventory (SPI) by A. Husain, M. Anas (adapted by G.V. Ozhiganova); The Life Meaning Orientation Test (LMOT) by D.A. Leontiev; the scale of Spiritual satisfaction of the Axiological Orientation of a Personality 4.5 (AOP4.5) test by A.V. Kaptsov. The results of the study confirmed the hypothesis: on the sample of students, a significant positive relationship was established between the spiritual and moral qualities, reflecting the orientation of a person towards higher values, with aspirations for meaning and spiritual satisfaction. Gender differences were revealed only on the scale of Spiritual satisfaction - it was higher in girls. In the student sample, an average level of manifestation of spiritual and moral qualities was established.

RedOx processes determine the resistance of the organism to pollutants. The aim of the study was to establish a possible relationship between copper and zinc concentration in the blood of calves and the enzyme activity of superoxide dismutase. The study was conducted in 2019 on 50 calves with a weight of 201-250 kg. The samples of venous blood were taken to estimate the level of hemoglobin, glutathione, metallothioneins, as well as zinc, copper, and superoxide dismutase activity. The obtained average values of these substances concentration were compared between each other. A positive correlation between the activity of superoxide dismutase and the concentration of zinc (r = 0.64) and copper (r = 0.87) in the blood of calves has been established. It may be because both metals are obligatory components of superoxide dismutase. There is also a positive relationship between the levels of copper and zinc (r = 0.68). For the other parameters, no reliable relationship was found. The data obtained indicate a positive relationship between the activity of superoxide dismutase and metal concentrations of copper and zinc in the blood of calves. At the same time, a more significant positive relationship is established for copper.

In this paper, we study the skewness risk and its return predictability in the energy market. Skewness risk is often used to measure the possibility of market crash. We study both physical skewness (market skewness and cross-sectional average realized skewness) estimated from underlying stock returns and risk-neutral skewness evaluated from the options market. We find a significant positive relationship between one-month-ahead market return and average realized skewness in the energy market. This unique feature should be noted by investors and carefully considered by energy policymakers.

Dysregulated lipid metabolism and oxidative stress are strong factors that are implicated in the development of proteinuria and glomerular injury in Nephrotic Syndrome (NS). Vitamin D seems to be a promising tool in influencing lipid metabolism and antioxidant status in NS. Aim: This study aims at investigating the relationship between Vitamin D, dyslipaedemia and oxidative stress in NS. Study Design: This is a case-control study. Place and Duration of Study: Children’s Outpatient Clinic (CHOP) of University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Nigeria between year 2019-2021. Methods: This study involves fifty children aged 5 to 12 years, freshly diagnosed with Idiopathic NS and fifty apparently healthy children as control. Blood samples were taken from them and analytes quantified by standard laboratory methods. Students’ t test and Pearson correlation were used to compare variables between the two groups respectively. Results: Results showed significant decrease (P <.001) in Vit. D levels, GPX, SOD and CAT in NS. A significant decrease (P<.001) occurred in HDL, a significant increase (P <.001) in TG, TC and LDL levels in children with NS when compared with the control. There was a strong significant positive relationship between Catalase and Vit. D, SOD and Vit. D (r= 0.896, 0.869 respectively, P<.001) in NS. While a weak non significant positive relationship occurred between HDL and Vit. D, GPX and Vit D (r=0.0585, 0.0236 respectively, P >.001). A weak negative relationship occurred between TG and Vit. D, TC and Vit. D, LDL and Vit. D (r=-0.0432,-0.219, -0.231 respectively, P>.001), in NS. Thus, vitamin D insufficiency influences serum lipid profiles and antioxidants in paediatric Idiopathic NS.
