Abstract Planets are like children with each one being unique and special. A better understanding of their collective properties requires a deeper understanding of each planet. Here we add the transit and eclipse spectra of hot-Jupiter WASP-74b into the ever growing data set of exoplanet atmosphere spectral library. With six transits and three eclipses using the Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope (Spitzer), we present the most complete and precise atmospheric spectra of WASP-74b. We found no evidence for TiO/VO nor super-Rayleigh scattering reported in previous studies. The transit shows a muted water feature with strong Rayleigh scattering extending into the infrared. The eclipse shows a featureless blackbody-like WFC3/G141 spectrum and a weak methane absorption feature in the Spitzer 3.6 μm band. Future James Webb Space Telescope follow-up observations are needed to confirm these results.

The article is devoted to the generation and accumulation systems in the territory of the Crimean-Caucasian segment of the Alpine folded system. An area of prolonged and stable sagging in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic – the Azov-Kuban Trough, which is a typical foreland basin – is distinguished within this segment. According to the results of geological and geochemical studies and modelling, depocentres are identified in this area, consolisated in four generative and accumulative hydrocarbon systems: Triassic-Jurassic, Cretaceous, Eocene and Maikop. Chemical-bitumenological, pyrolytic and coal petrology analysis of rock samples were carried out to assess geochemical conditions of oil and gas content in Meso-Cenozoic sediments. The modelling results made it possible to study and model the elements and processes of hydrocarbon systems in the Meso-Cenozoic in the Western Crimean-Caucasian region. It has been established that the extended catagenetic zoning is typical for these areas, which is caused by high rates of sedimentation and sagging, and large thicknesses of oil-bearing sediments in the source of oil formation, accordingly. The degree of organic matter depletion characterized the residual potential of the oil and gas source strata, was investigated. It is important for predicting and assessing the possibility of hydrocarbon generation.

It is the components, living things evolution processes, development environments, distribution layers and the earliest time for coal series formation that are investigated and studied in detail based on the author’s graduation thesis, the “Geobiology” , the “China coal petrology” and the other’s some references in this paper. And it is considered that mainly two types of the Coal Series might be distinguish in the geologic history in China, respectively consisted of the lower organisms (especially the lower plants, blue-green algae) and higher organisms (especially the higher plants, pteridophyta, gymnosperms, Anthophyta). Meanwhile, the conclusions can be drawn that the development of the organisms is not only controlled by the environments, on the other hand, the environments and their sediments are also affected by the ecologies of the organisms. So the coal bed or coal series can be used as the marks of the environment explanation, perhaps having some Significances of Geobiology. In additional, the relationship with an unconformity or disconformity is discussed here, too.
