Abstract The paper deals with the solution accuracy of the stress in the structure using the finite element analysis. In general, hexahedron elements are more accurate than tetrahedron elements and quadratic elements are more accurate than linear elements. The primary aim of the article is to perform comparison of the obtained results and calculation parameters (such as time and so on) for different types of elements and the elements size. Usage less accurate elements like linear tetrahedron under certain circumstances could lead to sufficiently accurate result of stress analysis.

Propeller is one of the critical parts in garbage powder mixer and affect significantly to the performance. In order to obtain a more reasonable structure, force analysis and stress analysis is carrier out for the propeller based on the actual working condition. Optimal design for the propeller is implemented by the results of stress analysis. To verify the rationality and feasibility of this mechanism, the finite element analysis for the propeller is performed by using the ANASYS software. The simulation results show that the maximum stress of the propeller is on the joint of blade and rod. The optimized propeller is satisfied with the strength requirements.

Beam-to-column connections affect the rigidity and strength of the overall precast concrete structures. Even though many experimental researches have been carried out on beam-to-column connections, the behavior and failure mode of the connection in precast concrete is often difficult to assess through experimental program. The finite element analysis, on the other hand, can be an option to properly evaluate the condition of the connections. Nevertheless, the finite element analysis on the beam-to-column connections is quite limited. Thus, there is a need to study and explore the behavior of the connection system based on the finite element data. In this research, the finite element analysis was performed to study the performance of different types of beam-to-column connections in precast concrete frames. A total of four specimens were modeled and analyzed to study the connection behavior involving load-displacement relationship under static incremental load. Different connection details were considered and the behavior of various beam-to-column connections were investigated.

According to the factual demand of produce, some corporation wants to enlarge the capacity of the idle from 65t to 75t. This paper aims at the changing ladle which the capacity is 75t. It makes research to the iron ladle's promotion process and stress analysis. This paper uses ANSYS-Workbench software to make the finite element analysis of the iron ladle and extracts the largest stress, strain and the location. Then this paper analyses whether the changing ladle can be fit for the intensity demand or not so that it could provide the important theory gist to the corporation

The gantry beam, which is the key part of the gantry frame is given a static analysis on the stress position with the finite element analysis, and its structure is shelled and optimized. Without changing the geometric size of the gantry beam and increasing the stiffness and strength of gantry beam by adding the strengthening ribs to gantry beam internally, reduce gantry beam quality, optimize the design of beam structure, improve the reliability of beam greatly, which laid the foundation for the further study of the gantry automatic welder.

The jumping characteristics at the driven pulley of L type synchronous belt drives are experimentally and analytically discussed. The number of the driving and the driven pulley teeth is the same and the wrapping angle of the belt on both pulleys is π radian. In this paper, the meshing state of belts on both of the driving and driven pulleys just before jumping is analyzed using the Finite Element analysis. Standardized L type synchronous belts and pulleys are used for analysis and experiments of the meshing states between belt and pulley, load distribution stress analysis and jumping torque. A 337L075 trapezoidal tooth profile synchronous belt and a 36L075 synchronous pulley are used in the analysis and the experiments. The wrapping angle of belt on both the driving and the driven pulley is equal to π radian. “ABAQUS/Standard” is used for the simulation and analysis of the belt. The simulation of the FE analysis of the wrapping angle of the belt on the driven pulley is almost the same with the experimental result. FE analysis of the load distribution just before jumping on the driven pulley agrees well with the experimental results.

Background:Finite element analysis has been universally employed for the stress and strain analysis in lower extremity prosthetics. The socket adapter was the principal subject of interest due to its importance in deciding the knee motion range. Objectives:This article focused on the static and dynamic stress analysis of the designed hybrid adapter developed by the authors. A standard mechanical design validation approach using von Mises was followed. Four materials were considered for the analysis, namely, carbon fiber, oil-filled nylon, Al-6061, and mild steel.Study design:The paper analyses the static and dynamic stress on designed hybrid adapter which incorporates features of conventional male and female socket adapters. The finite element analysis was carried out for possible different angles of knee flexion simulating static and dynamic gait situation. Methods:Research was carried out on available design of socket adapter. Mechanical design of hybrid adapter was conceptualized and a CAD model was generated using Inventor modelling software. Static and dynamic stress analysis was carried out on different materials for optimization. Results:The finite element analysis was carried out on the software Autodesk Inventor Professional Ver. 2011. The peak value of von Mises stress occurred in the neck region of the adapter and in the lower face region at rod eye–adapter junction in static and dynamic analyses, respectively.Conclusions:Oil-filled nylon was found to be the best material among the four with respect to strength, weight, and cost.Clinical relevanceResearch investigations on newer materials for development of improved prosthesis will immensely benefit the amputees. The study analyze the static and dynamic stress on the knee joint adapter to provide better material used for hybrid design of adapter.

Stress analysis of dental structures has been a topic of interest in recent years with the objective of determination of stresses in the tooth and it's supporting structures and improvement of the mechanical strength of these structures. The purpose of this article is to give an insight of the finite element analysis which has totally overtaken other experimental analysis due to its ability to model even the most complex of geometries with is immensely flexible and adaptable nature. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a computer-based numerical technique for calculating the strength and behavior of structures. It can be used to analyze either small or large-scale deflection under loading or applied displacement. However it is extremely expensive and can be used only with the help of an expert engineer who has mastered this technique. Still this methodology of stress analysis has become extremely popular in dentistry as various properties of dental tissues and materials can be just fed into it and with the ease and accuracy the analysis is done is just remarkable.

This paper presents a quantitative comparison between the non-rare-earth permanent magnet (PM) and rare-earth PM based linear magnetic gear. By using the finite element analysis, three linear magnetic gears adopting either the non-rare-earth PM or rare-earth PM are analyzed and discussed. Hence, the cost-effectiveness comparison among different types of PMs is conducted. The results indicate that the non-rare-earth PM is preferred to the rare-earth PM for application to linear magnetic gears when cost-effectiveness is emphasized.
