A preliminary assessment is presented of the required lower landing minima (LLM) capabilities needed to support the Small Aircraft Transportation System (SATS) Program. The goal of this analysis is to understand the number of potentially challenged SATS airports and to identify methods to remove obstacles by using technology solutions. Four obstacle removal methods are considered to assess the challenges faced by the SATS Program in providing LLM capabilities to 3,416 U.S. airports. Two views of runway obstacle analysis are presented: a critical object analysis and a detailed multiobject analysis that includes terrain information. A comparison is made between decision altitudes (DAs) derived by approach lighting infrastructure and glide path angle thresholds and DA values considering other airport characteristics such as terrain. A detailed case study is presented to compare the single critical object analysis with the more detailed multiobject analysis, which was performed for Blacksburg Airport, in Virginia.

Abstract An electrically open defect on a laminate may not always be found timely or successfully due to the lack of fault isolation techniques for this type of defect. This is partly due to needing high frequency techniques to isolate the location of the open. Magnetic field imaging (MFI) using a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) is a technique that maps, in this case, an RF signal through a trace, up until the open defect boundary. Several obstacles are introduced when using an RF signal, one of which is the shielding of the signal from the external world. Despite this obstacle, analysis of an open in an arbitrary location along a laminate under a copper plane is proven successful using this technique.

The concept of place value is very important taught before student learned addition and subtraction. However, in reality student has learning obstacle when they learn place value. The aim of this research is to analize the student obstacles in 3 digit place value. This research is a qualitative research and involved 50 students of grade 2 elementary school. From the analysis of the data, i.e., student test results and student interview, the result is we found two obstacles, ie.,didactical and epistemological obstacle. Didacticalobstacleis caused by using horizontal representation strategy of place value in 2013 curriculum textbookdid not help student to interpret number from the point of view place value, so that when the student must sum the result of horizontal representation strategy, students only combine the number symbol instead of summing numbers. Another didacticalobstacleis examples and questions about place value in 2013 curriculum book are less varied that indirectly raises epistemological obstacle which lead to examples and questions are given by teacher are not varied. This finding needs to be followed up by conducting development research that can reduce learning obstacle that have been discovered

[New Airport Development Analysis in Pantai Pakis Jaya Karawang as a Reliever for Soekarno -Hatta International Airport] Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the biggest and the busiest airport in Indonesia. It is forecasted that passengers movement in this airport will reach 70 – 100 million passenger/year for the next 15 years. Seeing the condition of this airport as a concern, new airport in the area around DKI Jakarta is required to accomodate the surge of air transportation growth that Soekarno-Hatta itself already in overcapacity state. One of possible area to be set for the new airport development namely Pantai Pakis Jaya Karawang is analyzed in this study. The analysis was conducted based on 8 criteria; airspace, safety, accessibility and infrastructure, land, natural condition, obstacle, cost, social and environmental impact. The results of land and obstacle analysis indicate that Pantai Pakis Jaya Karawang is feasible as the new airport location due to it does not require land acqusition and there are no obstacles that can block the aircraft movement. However, the analysis results for airspace, safety, accessibility and infrastructure, natural condition, cost, and social and environmental impact show that Pantai Pakis Jaya Karawang is less feasible as the location for the new airport.
