Automation has long been a resource for high-throughput screening at Bristol-Myers Squibb. However, with growing deck sizes and decreasing time lines, a new generation of more robust, supportable automated systems was necessary for accomplishing high-throughput screening goals. Implementation of this new generation of automated systems required numerous decisions concerning hardware, software and the value of in-house automation expertise. This project has resulted in fast, flexible, industrialized automation systems with a strong in-house support structure that we believe meets our current high-throughput screening requirements and will continue to meet them well into the future.

Nowadays automation systems become more and more heterogeneous with various technologies and standards from different companies and vendors. Each technology has its own concept to model and present process data, leading to the need of a uniform view for the whole systems. OPC UA specification, the next generation of Classic OPC Standards, was introduced as a promising standard that is a good solution to address the issue. Some remarkable advantages of OPC UA have attracted attention: (i) information modeling, (ii) high-performing communication, and (iii) enhanced security mechanism. This paper aims at contributing in the first and big advantage of OPC UA, information modeling concept. Whereas Classic OPC has a poor and simple meta-data model providing tags, OPC UA uses standard information models to lift interoperability to the next level. It allows not only interoperable data exchange but also interoperable model. In our work, information modeling concept based on object-oriented techniques is exemplified by means of a case study for Smart House.

The present paper is focused on integration TCP-IP devices into smart house projects. The designed devices will send data to web application. The proposed implementation starts from server sent events for real time measurements and from X10 protocol- based devices for energy metering. In the paper we analyze hardware and software designing principles and architectures around a microcontroller application. Some real time and offline results are shown and analyzed. All the applications are successful tested in different projects, then integrated in present application.

Use of information technology in general is very important for the development of the organization. Likewise, if the development of information technology can be applied to the small and medium business sector, so that it can increase the selling value of the sector. This research was conducted to answer the readiness of the SMEs sector in adopting information technology developments in business management. In this case the researcher develops the research model by adopting the technology readiness model and information technology adoption model in the context of technology and environment, combining and adjusting it according to the development of SMEs in Jakarta. This quantitative study involved 67 samples from MSME workers. Data was processed and analyzed using the PLS-SEM method using SmartPLS 2.0 software. The study also explained the results of the readiness factor which has a significant relationship to the utilization of information technology in SMEs in Jakarta

Energy generation, along with other sectors of Russia’s economy, is on the cusp of the era of digital transformation. Modern IT solutions ensure the transition of industrial enterprises from automation and computerization, which used to be the targets of the second half of the last century, to digital enterprise concept 4.0. The international record of technological and structural solutions in digitization may be used in Russia’s energy sector to the full extent. Specifics of implementation of such systems in different countries are only determined by the level of economic development of each particular state and the attitude of public authorities as related to the necessity of creating conditions for implementation of the same. It is shown that a strong legislative framework is created in Russia for transition to the digital economy, with research and applied developments available that are up to the international level. The following digital economy elements may be used today at enterprises for production of electrical and thermal energy: — dealing with large amounts of data (including operations exercised via cloud services and distributed data bases); — development of small scale distributed generation and its dispatching; — implementation of smart elements in both electric power and heat supply networks; — development of production process automation systems, remote monitoring and predictive analytics; 3D-modeling of parts and elements; real time mathematic simulation with feedback in the form of control actions; — creating centres for analytical processing of statistic data and accounting in financial and economic activities with business analytics functions, with expansion of communication networks and computing capacities. Examples are presented for implementation of smart systems in energy production and distribution. It is stated in the paper that state-of art information technologies are currently being implemented in Russia, new unique digital transformation projects are being launched in major energy companies. Yet, what is required is large-scale and thorough digitization and controllable energy production system as a multi-factor business process will provide the optimum combination of efficient economic activities, reliability and safety of power supply.
