The influence of the type of crystal structure of complex gadolinium oxides on their catalytic activity was studied using a wide range of physicochemical methods. It was shown that the synthesized nanocrystalline powders Gd2Zr2O7 form highly symmetric face-centered cubic crystal structures. In the course of catalytic experiments, it was found that the formation of a cubic structure increases the degree of conversion of propane and the shift of cracking temperatures to a lower area. The formation of various defects contributes to the course of the dehydrogenation or degradation reaction due to the different number of catalytic centers.

Generalized particle dynamics method (GP) is a kind of new multi-scale analysis approach which relates various scales naturally through cohering small scale lattice to large-scale lattice. In this paper, a method named nearby condensation method is proposed to lump small scale lattice to large-scale lattice keeping topology structure and mass distribution. The method provides a theoretical support to the GP method. It is indicated that, after cohesion BCC (Body-Centered Cubic) crystal structure possessed the same topological structure and mass distribution, and FCC (Face-centered cubic) crystal structure possessed the same topological structure, but the mass distribution gradually converges to a steady state.

Single crystals of a new multinary chromium carbide, La21Cr8−2aAlbGe7−bC12(henicosalanthanum octachromium aluminium hexagermanium dodecacarbide), were grown from an La-rich self flux and were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The face-centered cubic crystal structure is composed of isolated and geometrically frustrated regular Cr tetrahedra that are co-centered within regular C octahedra. These mutually separated Cr4−aC6clusters are distributed throughout a three-dimensional framework of Al, Ge, and La. The title compound is isotypic with La21−δMn8X7C12andR21Fe8X7C12(R= La, Ce, Pr;X= Al, Bi, Ge, Sn, Sb, Te) and represents the first example of a Cr-based compound with this structure-type.

High-entropy alloy of NiCoCrFeMnCuC were made by vacuum non-consumable arc furnace in the present work. The crystal structure of NiCoCrFeMnCuC was analyzed by XRD. The corrosion resistance of NiCoCrFeMnCuC in 10%HNO3-3%HF, 10%H2SO4, 5%HCl and 10%HF was investigated, respectively with weight loss experiment. The results show that main intermetallics of the alloy are CoCx, FeNi3 and Fe3Mn7. The NiCoCrFeMnCuC has simple crystal structures with face-centered cubic crystal structure FCC and Quartet and has excellent corrosion resistance in some medium acid liquids.

Ag nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method under the polyol system combined with traces of sodium chloride, Silver nitrate(AgNO3) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) acted as the silver source and dispersant respectively. The samples by this process were characterized via X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) adsorption equation, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the corresponding selected area electron diffraction (SAED) to determine the chemical composition, particle size, crystal structure and morphology. The experiment results indicate that the crystal structure of the samples is face centered cubic (FCC) structure as same as the bulk materials, The specific surface area is 24 m2/g, the particle size distribution ranging from10 to 50 nm, with an average particle size about 26 nm obtained by TEM and confirmed by XRD and BET results.
