Cloud computing is the cutting edge technology in the information field to provide services to the users over the internet through web–based tools and applications. One of the major aspects of cloud computing is load balancing. Challenges like Quality of service (QoS) metrics and resource utilization can be improved by balancing the load in cloud environment. Specific scheduling criteria can be applied using load balancing for users prioritization. This paper surveys different load balancing algorithms. The approaches that are existing are discussed and analyzed to provide fair load balancing and also a comparative analysis was presented for the performance of the existing different load balancing schemes.

This article proposes a comparative analysis of the newspaper apps developed for tablets and smartphones within different media systems. It studies the multimediality, interactivity and commercialization models adopted by newspaper publishers and journalists for these apps. The theoretical framework embraces two main topics: the media system models, starting from Hallin and Mancini’s proposal, and the characteristics of the media systems, particularly in the countries selected for this sample, focusing on the digital and mobile media scenario. In order to collect comparable data from a common source, we have selected indicators from Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2016. The total number of app versions analysed came to 148 (81 for smartphones and 67 for tablets) from 20 newspapers in 10 different countries. One conclusion is that newspapers’ commitment to the tablet and smartphone, in general, tends to be conservative and far from independent of pre-existing print and web-based media. This article shows how media systems have become more complex in the digital scenario, in which apps are an important, but not exclusive, aspect. So, it is necessary to take into account trends in news globalization and ‘convergent journalism’. Finally, this research confirms that crossplatform management and multichannel strategies are still weak, which has consequences for the innovation of app editions.

PurposeThe paper seeks to provide a comparative analysis of the functionality of five web‐based OPACs available in Indian academic libraries.Design/methodology/approachSame‐topic searches were carried out by three researchers on the web‐based OPACs of Libsys, VTLS's iPortal, NewGenLib, Troodon, and Alice for Windows, implemented in five academic libraries in India. Their functionality was compared using criteria selected from the literature on OPAC searching.FindingsThe web‐based OPACs investigated offered a range of facilities for searching by author, title, control number and by keywords. Federated searching across several e‐collections was limited.Originality/valueThis paper should be a useful source of information to librarians who are planning to introduce web‐based OPACs and also for software vendors who wish to improve the functionality of their products.

The article presents a comparative analysis of frameworks supporting the development of automated tests for defined test scenarios. The comparative study concerned the TestNG and WebDriverIO frameworks. The overview of the tool has been analyzed both in terms of the test development process as well as the speed and efficiency of their execution. The website github.com was used for the purposes of the work. This application was used to run test scripts written in both frameworks. The results were compared by five defined criteria: the time of running the test files in different browser operation modes, the average value of memory and CPU usage during the test execution. The summary includes the evaluation of the compared frameworks.

Abstract The tool described in this article has been designed to help MT developers by implementing a web-based graphical user interface that allows to systematically compare and evaluate various MT engines/experiments using comparative analysis via automatic measures and statistics. The evaluation panel provides graphs, tests for statistical significance and n-gram statistics. We also present a demo server http://wmt.ufal.cz with WMT14 and WMT15 translations.
