The influence of cetane number improver on emission characteristics of diesel engine fueled with methanol/diesel blend fuel was investigated. Methanol/diesel blend fuel was prepared, in which the methanol content is 10%, different mass fraction (0%,0.5%) of cetane number improver were added to the blend fuel. Load characteristic experiments at maximum torque speed of the engine were carried out on 4B26 direct injection diesel engine. The results show that, compared with the engine fueled with diesel, the CO emission increases under low loads and reduces under medium and high loads, the HC emission increases, the NOx emission decreases under medium and low loads and increases under high loads, the soot emission reduces significantly when the diesel engine fueled with blends. When cetane number improver was added to blends, the CO and NOx emission reduces, the HC emission decreases, the soot emission increases to some extent compared with the methanol/dieselblend fuel without cetane number improver.

There was a conflict between NOx emission and engine power of modified natural gas engine. Influence facters of NOx emission and emission characteristics of existing modified engine were studied. Emission and engine power of natural gas engine modified from gasoline and diesel engine were compared. Then some sugesstion are brought out for designing low NOx emission natural gas engine and promote engine power.

Tests were performed with a light-vehicle diesel engine. Four representative operating conditions in 1600r/min speed have been considered. This article compares the combustion and emission characteristics of engine fueled with Bio-diesel and standard diesel. The results showed that the ignition delay time and combustion duration shorten when fuel with bio-diesel. Bio-diesel contains more oxygen and that contribute to complete combustion of fuel. The combustion of bio-diesel fuel results higher NOx emission and lower HC、CO emissions at all operating conditions. But lower Soot emission because of bio-diesel dose not contains sulfides. At the same time, fuel consumption higher, because calorific value of bio-diesel is lower than standard diesel.
