A new hybrid active power filter (NHAPF) and its corresponding controlling method are proposed in the paper, which can be applied in high voltage system. The topology structure of NHAPF is given and its compensating principle is described. The corresponding controlling method is a power direct control, which need not the lower pass filter and improve the performance of detecting precision and velocity. Simulating results show that the feasibility and validity of the compensated system. Harmonic currents and reactive power are compensated well.

A novel low-cost shunt hybrid active power filter for power quality in high voltage system is proposed in the paper. The active power filter is based on three-phase four-switch structure. An inductor is parallel in the second-side of the transform, instead of connected in the first-side of transform. An improved SVPWM is proposed according to the APF structure. A novel coordinate matrix is proposed to transform three-phase circumrotating coordinate into two-phase static coordinate. The zero vector is composed of two space voltage vectors with same breadth and contrary direction at same working time in a switch period. Simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed structure and the improved SVPWM.

The paper presents a shunt hybrid active power filter for 1 kV mining applications in configuration with a single-tuned passive filter. The focus is on the method of controlling the filter, with particular emphasis on the influence of network voltage distortion and time delays in control on the effectiveness of harmonic reduction, which is one of the most important aspect of power quality. The low-power loss configuration of a hybrid filter with SiC transistors is shown, as well as the control algorithm which limits the influence of voltage distortion. Theoretical considerations are verified by results obtained from simulations and tests of the hybrid active power filter prototype.
