In early 1997, Lakehead Pipe Line Company, Inc. (LPL) purchased the Hartsdale Terminal to better serve customers in the Chicago area by providing additional crude oil storage facilities. This terminal is located adjacent to Lakehead’s Griffith, Indiana Terminal and consists of nine crude oil tanks totaling 900,000 barrels of storage capacity. All nine of the Hartsdale tanks were constructed in 1956, are 134 ft. in diameter, and are open top with double deck style floaters. This report describes the integrity analysis of the facility and the corresponding maintenance plan that was developed. The analysis portion of this report describes the inspections that were done on the tanks, covering aspects such as weld spacing; tank settlement; interior and exterior coating failure; tank shell, bottom, and pontoon corrosion; seal wear and performance; roof drain integrity; and other OSHA and API mandates. The resulting maintenance plan is approximately a five-year window and is currently in its first year. The five-year duration was based on issues both operational and financial. A portion of the discussion is focused on the challenge of combining these two components into an overall comprehensive plan. In addition, aspects affecting the maintenance plan such as risk assessment, OSHA and API standards, and budgeting issues are described.

Underwater oil storage is a new offshore oil drilling technique developed in recent years. Because of the high pour point, crude oil condensation will affect its storage and transportation. In order to solve this problem, a set of thermal insulation control system for underwater oil storage was designed in this paper. Flexible isolation cloth with low thermal conductivity and insulation coatings on the inwall of oil tanks are applied to reduce temperature loss, while mamdani fuzzy controller was used to control the heating of hot water and to solve nonlinear and large time delay and inertia of the object so as to maintain the stable oil temperature.

In recent years, the demand of the crude oil is increasing in the world, and the oil storage tanks are also developing larger and larger. Higher requirements of safety for storage tank, especially safety evaluation of the oil tanks in fire environment, was proposed because the oil tank volume is large, as well the oil is volatile, flowing, inflammable and explosive easily. In the paper, the fire process was simulated by the heat treatment for the key position, and the relationship between mechanical property and heating temperature of large tank after fire was obtained. The strength evaluation for large-scale crude oil storage tank after fire was implemented and the result showed that the strength for large crude oil tank was satisfied with requirement.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was categorized into three. First, to describe the effective sentence mastery of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Second, to describe the writing skills of a exposition of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of the effective sentence mastery into the writing skills of a exposition text made by the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang. The design of this research was quantitative with a descriptive method. Then, this study also was a correlational design. The population of this study was the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang for about 498 students. The sample of this study was taken by using a proportional random sampling technique (15%), which was 70 students. The data of this study were the results of effective sentence mastery and the results of the writing skill of a exposition text. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure effective sentence mastery and performance tests to measure expositon text. There were several results of this study. First, the effective sentence mastery of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang was in Good qualifications (B). Second, the writing skills of a exposition of the first year students at SMK Negeri 2 Padang was in a Good qualification (B). Third, describe the effective sentence mastery contributed 82,00% to the exposition text writing skills of the first year students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Kata Kunci: kontribusi, penguasaan kalimat efektif,  keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi
