In this paper, we introduce a novel system for physics-based vehicle simulation from input trajectory. The proposed system approximates the physical movements of a real vehicle using a proportional derivative (PD) servo which estimates proper torques for wheels and controls a vehicle’s acceleration based on the conditions of the given trajectory. To avoid expensive simulation calculation, the input trajectory is segmented and compared to the optimized trajectories stored in a path library. Based on the similarity of the curve shape between the input and simulated trajectories, an iterative search method is introduced to generate a physically derivable trajectory for convincing simulation results. For an interaction with other objects in the virtual environment, the surface of the vehicle is subdivided into several parts and deformed individually from external forces. As demonstrated in the experimental results, the proposed system can create diverse traffic scenes with multiple vehicles in a fully automated way.

With the surge of ubiquitous demand for high-complexity and quality mobile Internet-of-things (IoT) services, new cooperative relaying paradigms have emerged. Motivated by the long and unpredictable end-to-end communication in relay-aided IoT networks, there is a need to introduce novel modulation schemes for very low bit error rate (BER) communications. In this paper, a practical modulation mapping scheme has been proposed to reduce decoding errors. Specifically, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) system has been used with an intermediate relay to transfer a message from a source to a destination. The design of modulation mapping has been optimized by first formulating the objective as the quadratic assignment problem. Later, the solution to the mapping problem is provided using an iterative search method. To validate the proposed solution, extensive simulations have been performed in MATLAB. The results show that the proposed solution outperforms the conventional relay retransmission and the heuristic design approaches.

The iterative search method (Newton-Raphson or Quasi-Newton) is an important numerical method for solving the forward kinematics problem of parallel mechanisms. But there may be a failure when the iterative search method solves the forward kinematics problems of a class of mechanisms, whose workspace is restricted. The extreme displacement singularity in the limbs is one reason for the workspace restriction. An equivalent method is proposed to remove the extremely displacement singularity in the limbs, and the forward kinematics solutions of two representative 6 degree of freedom mechanisms are given to illustrate the mechanism equivalence. For the coupled fewer degree of freedom mechanisms, the coupled motion is another reason for the workspace restriction. The virtual mechanism method and modified Jacobian matrix method are applied to solve the forward kinematics problems of this class of mechanisms. Numerical examples are given to validate the theories proposed above.

The pattern of bend contours which appear in the TEM image of a bent or curled sample indicates the shape into which the specimen is bent. Several authors have characterized the shape of their bent foils by this method, most recently I. Bolotov, as well as G. Möllenstedt and O. Rang in the early 1950’s. However, the samples they considered were viewed at orientations away from a zone axis, or at zone axes of low symmetry, so that dynamical interactions between the bend contours did not occur. Their calculations were thus based on purely geometric arguments. In this paper bend contours are used to measure deflections of a single-crystal silicon membrane at the (111) zone axis, where there are strong dynamical effects. Features in the bend contour pattern are identified and associated with a particular angle of bending of the membrane by reference to large-angle convergent-beam electron diffraction (LACBED) patterns.

Nowadays the process of information accumulation is so rapid that the concept of the usual iterative search requires revision. Being in the world of oversaturated information in order to comprehensively cover and analyze the problem under study, it is necessary to make high demands on the search methods. An innovative approach to search should flexibly take into account the large amount of already accumulated knowledge and a priori requirements for results. The results, in turn, should immediately provide a roadmap of the direction being studied with the possibility of as much detail as possible. The approach to search based on topic modeling, the so-called topic search, allows you to take into account all these requirements and thereby streamline the nature of working with information, increase the efficiency of knowledge production, avoid cognitive biases in the perception of information, which is important both on micro and macro level. In order to demonstrate an example of applying topic search, the article considers the task of analyzing an import substitution program based on patent data. The program includes plans for 22 industries and contains more than 1,500 products and technologies for the proposed import substitution. The use of patent search based on topic modeling allows to search immediately by the blocks of a priori information – terms of industrial plans for import substitution and at the output get a selection of relevant documents for each of the industries. This approach allows not only to provide a comprehensive picture of the effectiveness of the program as a whole, but also to visually obtain more detailed information about which groups of products and technologies have been patented.
