ABSTRACT We report draft genomes of two bacterial strains in the genera Hyphobacterium and Reichenbachiella, which are associated with the diatom Cyclotella cryptica strain CCMP332. Genomes from these strains were 2,691,501 bp and 3,325,829 bp, respectively, and will be useful for understanding interactions between diatoms and bacteria.

Numerous bacterial strains from the Burkholderia cepacia complex display biocontrol activity. Here, we report the complete genome sequences of five Burkholderia strains isolated from soil. Biosynthetic gene clusters responsible for the production of antimicrobial compounds were found in the genome of these strains, which display biocontrol activity against various lettuce pathogens.

Here, we report the whole-genome sequences of two bacterial strains, Muricauda sp. 72 and NH166, isolated from the South China Sea and West Pacific Ocean, respectively. These two strains may represent a novel species of the genus Muricauda, and the features of their genome sequences will enrich our understandings of strains in the genus Muricauda.

Here, we present the first draft genome sequences of 14 bacterial strains isolated from the nasopharynx of healthy feedlot cattle. These genomes are from 12 Lactobacillus isolates (L. amylovorus, L. buchneri, L. curvatus, and L. paracasei), 1 Enterococcus hirae isolate, and 1 Staphylococcus chromogenes isolate.

ABSTRACT Bacteria from the Bacillus cereus group exhibit genetic and physiological diversity through different ecotypes. Here, we present the draft genome sequences of 20 bacterial strains belonging to the contrasted psychrotolerant and thermotolerant ecotypes.

Strains of Sulfitobacter spp., Erythrobacter sp., and Marinobacter sp. were isolated from a polymicrobial culture of the naked (N-type) haptophyte Emiliania huxleyi strain CCMP1516. The genomes encode genes for the production of phytohormones, vitamins, and the consumption of their hosts’ metabolic by-products, suggesting symbiotic interactions within this polymicrobial culture.

ABSTRACT Two Streptomyces strains were isolated from a lava tube in La Palma, Canary Islands. Genomic analyses suggest that the two strains could belong to the same species. Here, we report the draft genomes for these bacterial strains.

We sequenced the genomes of 17 strains isolated from the gut of honey bees, including strains representing the genera Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Gilliamella, Snodgrassella, Frischella, and Commensalibacter. These genome sequences represent an important step forward in the development of a comprehensive reference database to aid future analysis of this emerging gut microbiota model.

Here, we report the isolation, identification, and whole-genome sequences of 12 bacterial strains associated with four mushroom species. The study was done as an inquiry-based exercise in an undergraduate genomics course (BIOL 340) in the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

ABSTRACT Draft genome sequences of 13 bacterial strains from the family Microbacteriaceae were generated using Illumina technology. The genome sizes varied from 3.0 to 4.8 Mb, and the DNA G+C content was 68.1 to 72.5%. The sequences obtained will contribute to the development of genome-based taxonomy and understanding of molecular interactions between bacteria and plants.

ABSTRACT To develop novel techniques for improving blood safety, dedicated bacterial strains, which are able to persist and to proliferate in blood platelet concentrates, are needed. Here, we present draft genome sequences of the four bacterial strains approved for the first WHO repository of platelet transfusion-relevant bacterial reference strains.
