Escherichia coli serotype O157:H7 strain 20R2R is a derivative of clinical isolate PA20. Prophage excision from the coding region of a PA20 transcription factor restored RpoS-dependent biofilm formation in 20R2R, providing a model for O157:H7 stress adaptation when transitioning between clinical and environmental settings. We report here the complete 20R2R genome sequence.

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli serotype O157:H7 strain PA20 is a Pennsylvania Department of Health clinical isolate. It has been used to study biofilm formation in O157:H7 clinical isolates, where the high incidence of prophage insertions in the mlrA transcription factor disrupts traditional csgD biofilm regulation. Here, we report the complete PA20 genome sequence.

Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of bacteriophage PhiG17, which is virulent to Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains and was isolated from cattle feces in the North West province of South Africa. This report presents the major genetic features of the phage PhiG17 based on its whole-genome sequence.

Proteus mirabilis is a pathogen that has been linked to nosocomial infections. Studies on phages infecting P. mirabilis may provide therapeutics for infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains of this pathogen. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of a P. mirabilis myophage, Mydo, which is distantly related to Escherichia coli phage rv5.

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is an opportunistic pathogen that commonly causes foodborne illness. Study of bacteriophages against this pathogen could be useful to develop alternative treatment approaches. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of LL11, a T7-like podophage that infects ETEC.

ABSTRACT Here, we describe the complete genome sequence of siphophage LL5. LL5 is a T1-like phage isolated against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, which causes traveler’s diarrhea. LL5 is included as a component phage in the commercial prebiotic product PreforPro.

The lytic Escherichia coli siphophage BRET was isolated from a chicken obtained at a local market in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Its linear genome sequence consists of 59,550 bp (43.4% GC content) and contains 88 predicted genes, including 4 involved in archaeosine biosynthesis.

ABSTRACT Staphylococcus aureus JP080, previously named TF2758, is a clinical isolate from an atheroma and a super biofilm-elaborating strain whose biofilm elaboration is dependent solely on polysaccharide poly-N-acetylglucosamine/polysaccharide intercellular adhesin (PNAG/PIA). Here, we report the complete genome sequence of strain JP080, which consists of one chromosome and one circular plasmid.

Here, we announce the genome of the Escherichia coli 4s siphophage Shashou, which presents similarity to members of the Guernseyvirinae subfamily. Shashou is predicted to use a headful packaging mechanism for its 44,155-bp genome and to encode 77 proteins.

Escherichia coli is a Gram-negative bacterium often found in animal intestinal tracts. Here, we present the genome of the Guernseyvirinae-like E. coli 4s siphophage Snoke. The 44.4-kb genome contains 81 protein-coding genes, for which 33 functions were predicted. The capsid morphogenesis gene in Snoke contains a large intein.

Plasmid-mediated polymyxin resistance encoded by mcr-1 has increased public health concerns due to the potential for rapid horizontal transfer. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of colistin-resistant Escherichia coli Antibiotic Resistance Isolate Bank number 0346, harboring a plasmid-borne mcr-1 gene.
