This is a report from the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology State-of-the-Art Virtual Meeting held December 14–16, 2020. The unique 3-day conference offered comprehensive state-of-the-art summaries on the major advances in the treatment of different types of gynecological cancers. Sessions opened with a case presentation followed by a keynote lecture and interactive debates with opinion leaders in the field. The speakers also presented scientific reviews on the clinical trial landscape in collaboration with the European Network of Gynecological Oncological Trial (ENGOT) groups. In addition, the new ESGO-ESRTO-ESP endometrial cancer guidelines were officially presented in public. This paper describes the key information and latest studies that were presented for the first time at the conference.

AbstractThis is a report from the 20th Meeting of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) held in Vienna, Austria on November 4 to 7, 2017. The conference offered state-of-the-art educational sessions and oral and poster abstract presentations. The general sessions throughout the meeting focused not only on prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and translational research but also emerging trends, and current innovations in gynecological cancers were discussed. The ESGO-European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology-European Society of Pathology guidelines on management of cervical cancers were reported for the first time in public. Here, we highlight the key results of the latest trials for gynecological cancers presented for the first time at the ESGO 2017 Meeting and added great value to the congress scientific level.

Abstract Background The number of reports on sarcoidosis complicated by hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is limited, and most describe cases complicated by chronic bird-related HP. Here, we present for the first time a case with Propionibacterium acnes-associated sarcoidosis complicated by acute bird-related HP. Case presentation A 62-year-old man with a past medical history of sarcoidosis was admitted to our department, and chest computed tomography showed diffuse ground-glass opacities, which appeared as he rapidly increased the number of pigeons he kept for a competition. Random transbronchial lung biopsy revealed well-formed non-caseating epithelioid granulomas, which contained positively stained substances on immunohistochemistry using the PAB antibody, a specific monoclonal antibody against P. acnes lipoteichoic acid. Poorly formed non-caseating granulomas without positively stained substances were also detected. Conclusion We describe the successful identification of this exceptionally rare case of sarcoidosis complicated by acute bird-related HP in which two morphologically and immunohistologically different types of granulomas were present in the same lung.

<p>Earthquakes can cause considerable fatalities, injuries and financial loss. The forces of nature cannot be blamed, as the problem lies with the structures in seismic regions that may not have been designed or constructed to a sufficient degree to resist earthquake actions or they may have design flaws. This Structural Engineering Document (SED) concerns reinforced concrete and masonry buildings together with geotechnical aspects and presents in a concise and practical way the state of the art of current understanding of building failures due to earthquakes. It classifies the different types of seismic failure, explains the reasons for each failure, describes good practices to avoid such failures and also describes seismic retrofitting/upgrading procedures for pre-earthquake strengthening and post-earthquake repair and/or strengthening techniques for deficient buildings. Carefully selected photographs and diagrams illustrate the different failure types. This document could be considered as quite unique, as this is the first time such material concerning characteristic seismic failures of buildings has been presented together in one single document. It is intended to be a valuable educational reference textbook aimed at all levels of experience of engineers. This is a report from the 21st Meeting of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO 2019) held in Athens, Greece, November 2–5, 2019. The conference offered state of the art educational sessions, and oral and poster abstract presentations. The general sessions throughout the meeting focused not only on prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and translational research but also on emerging trends. Current innovations in gynecological cancers were also discussed. The new rare tumor guidelines project, a joint initiative with the ESGO-Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup, was officially presented for the first time. Moreover, other developments achieved with other societies, such as the European Society for Medical Oncology for ovarian cancer, the European Federation for Colposcopy for cervical cancer prevention and screening, and the European Society for Pediatric Oncology for gynecologic cancers in adolescents, were presented. Here we highlight the key results of the latest gynecological cancer trials that were presented for the first time at ESGO 2019 and added great value to this prestigious scientific congress.

Overview: The European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) is the principal European society contributing to the study, prevention, and treatment of gynecologic cancers. Founded in 1983, ESGO has more than 1,300 members in more than 40 European countries and worldwide who benefit from ESGO's innovative education and research initiatives and networking opportunities. ESGO objectives have been recently identified through a strategic planning process and include education, care, research, collaboration, awareness, and sustainability. As a leading gynecologic oncology society, ESGO holds biennial meetings where experts meet to discuss latest advances in gynecologic treatment and care. The 17th International Meeting of ESGO (ESGO 17) proved to be a resounding success, with 2,700 delegates and speakers who gathered from around the world in the cultured city of Milan, Italy. The structure of the congress included keynote lectures, debates, state-of-the art sessions, and focused sunrise sessions, together with oral and poster presentations and satellite symposia sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. For the first time, during ESGO 17 the Society organized a seminar for European patient groups with an interest in gynecologic cancers with the aim of facilitating different patientrelated activities across Europe. Moreover, The European Network of Young Gynaecologic Oncologists (ENYGO), the European Network of Gynaecologic Oncology Trial Groups (ENGOT), and the European Network of Translational Research in Gynaecological Oncology (ENTRIGO) had their own section during ESGO 17. ESGO also holds numerous workshops throughout the calendar year and provides clinical and research grants, online educational materials, webcasts, and numerous networking opportunities

Beim alle 2 Jahre stattfindenden ESGO-Kongress in Mailand wurde deutlich, dass insbesondere beim Ovarialkarzinom zwar keine Sprunginnovationen zu erwarten sind, aber es stetig – Schritt für Schritt – voran geht. Obwohl das Abschneiden der zielgerichteten Therapie mit Abagovomab enttäuschend ist, zeigen weitere Ergebnisse, dass dieser Therapieansatz durchaus seinen Stellenwert in dieser Indikation besitzt. Entscheidend scheint beim Rückfall das platinfreie Intervall zu sein. Beim Endometriumkarzinom deutet sich an, dass Everolimus eine Bereicherung des therapeutischen Regimes sein könnte.

For the first time in Almaty full passport of apartment stock of multiapartment building was carried out. The structure of the housing stock was revealed with the allocation of groups of buildings according to structural solutions and assessment of their seismic resistance. Based on the results of certification, quantitative estimates of failure probability values for different types of buildings were obtained. Formulas for estimation of quantitative value of seismic risk are obtained. The number of deaths in the estimated zem-shakes was estimated. The results of the assessments will be used for practical recommendations to reduce risk and expected losses in possible earthquakes.

Chapter 1 introduces the main arguments of the book; outlines the approach, method, and data; defines key terms; and provides a chapter outline. Global theories of democratization have systematically excluded small states, which make up roughly 20 per cent of countries. These cases debunk mainstream theories of why democratization succeeds or fails. This book brings small states into the comparative politics fold for the first time. It is organized thematically, with each chapter tackling one of the main theories from the democratization literature. Different types of data are examined—case studies and other documentary evidence, interviews and observation. Following an abductive approach, in addition to examining the veracity of existing theory, each chapter is also used to build an explanation of how democracy is practiced in small states. Specifically, we highlight how small state politics is shaped by personalization and informal politics, rather than formal institutional design.
