ASCOCONIDIUM TSUGAE N. SP. ASSOCIATED WITH BARK DISEASES OF WESTERN HEMLOCK IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
Ascoconidium tsugae n. sp., a phialosporous hyphomycete from the periderm of western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla (Raf.) Sarg.) occurs in both the Coastal and Columbia forests, associated with dying branches. The fungus grows slowly on malt agar but does not produce fruiting structures in culture. Evidence of weak pathogenicity is presented.
