We propose a mechanism that the soft supersymmetry breaking masses and μ parameter can be induced from the dynamical rearrangement of local U(1) symmetries in a five-dimensional model. It offers to a solution to μ problem if there is a large hierarchy among the relevant U(1) charge of Higgsinos and that of hidden fields which stabilize the extra-dimensional component of U(1) gauge boson.

The electric dipole moment of an electron (EDME) is investigated in the supersymmetric extra U(1) models. Neutralino sector is generally extended in these models and the neutralino contribution will then be important for the analysis of the EDME. Kinetic term mixings of Abelian gauginos are taken into account in our analysis. Numerical results for the extra U(1) models show that the EDME can be affected by the extra U(1) in a certain range of soft supersymmetry breaking parameters even if the extra U(1) gauge boson is heavy. The EDME may be a clue to find an extended gauge structure in the supersymmetric models.

Abstract The strongly coupled heterotic M-theory vacuum for both the observable and hidden sectors of the B − L MSSM theory is reviewed, including a discussion of the “bundle” constraints that both the observable sector SU(4) vector bundle and the hidden sector bundle induced from a single line bundle must satisfy. Gaugino condensation is then introduced within this context, and the hidden sector bundles that exhibit gaugino condensation are presented. The condensation scale is computed, singling out one line bundle whose associated condensation scale is low enough to be compatible with the energy scales available at the LHC. The corresponding region of Kähler moduli space where all bundle constraints are satisfied is presented. The generic form of the moduli dependent F-terms due to a gaugino superpotential — which spontaneously break N = 1 supersymmetry in this sector — is presented and then given explicitly for the unique line bundle associated with the low condensation scale. The moduli-dependent coefficients for each of the gaugino and scalar field soft supersymmetry breaking terms are computed leading to a low-energy effective Lagrangian for the observable sector matter fields. We then show that at a large number of points in Kähler moduli space that satisfy all “bundle” constraints, these coefficients are initial conditions for the renormalization group equations which, at low energy, lead to completely realistic physics satisfying all phenomenological constraints. Finally, we show that a substantial number of these initial points also satisfy a final constraint arising from the quadratic Higgs-Higgs conjugate soft supersymmetry breaking term.

Effective formation and implementation of forest policy can only be achieved with orientation to the most important goal—increasing society’s welfare. The global problem is, at present, that the impact of forests on society welfare indexes have not been identified. The aim of the study is to design an assessment model and assess the impact of Lithuanian forests on the society welfare index. The impact of forests was determined by multiplying the country’s welfare of society index by the forest contribution coefficient. In this study, to assess the index of the welfare of Lithuanian society, a five-dimensional model with 16 indicators was applied. The study is based on the Eurostat database and on Lithuanian forestry statistics. The Lithuanian welfare of society index calculated according to the model was 51.4% and the contribution of forests in this index was 3.9%. It represented 7.6% of the index of the welfare of society. Forests have the greatest impact in the environmental dimension, according to the assessment results.

We study a supersymmetry breaking mechanism in the context of a minimal anomalous extension of the MSSM. The anomaly cancellation mechanism is achieved through suitable counterterms in the effective action, that is, the Green-Schwarz terms. We assume that the standard MSSM superpotential is perturbatively realized; that is, all terms allowed by gauge symmetries except for the μ-term which has a nonperturbative origin. The presence of this term is expected in many intersecting D-brane models which can be considered as the ultraviolet completion of our model. We show how soft supersymmetry breaking terms arise in this framework, and we study the effect of some phenomenological constraints on this scenario.

The stable version of the anomaly-induced inflation does not need a fine tuning to induce sufficient expansion of the Universe. The non-stable version (Starobinsky model) provides the graceful exit to the FRW phase. Here, we indicate the possibility of the inflation which is stable at the beginning and unstable at the end. The effect is due to the soft supersymmetry breaking and the decoupling of the massive sparticles at low energy.
