We study some features of a warped five-dimensional model that solves the hierarchy problem and exhibits a continuum of Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes with a mass gap at the TeV scale. We compute the propagators and spectral functions for massless bulk gauge bosons, and study how the continuum can be reached as the limit of a set of models with discrete spectrum. Finally, we study the low energy effective theory and provide explicit results for the Wilson coefficients.

Effective formation and implementation of forest policy can only be achieved with orientation to the most important goal—increasing society’s welfare. The global problem is, at present, that the impact of forests on society welfare indexes have not been identified. The aim of the study is to design an assessment model and assess the impact of Lithuanian forests on the society welfare index. The impact of forests was determined by multiplying the country’s welfare of society index by the forest contribution coefficient. In this study, to assess the index of the welfare of Lithuanian society, a five-dimensional model with 16 indicators was applied. The study is based on the Eurostat database and on Lithuanian forestry statistics. The Lithuanian welfare of society index calculated according to the model was 51.4% and the contribution of forests in this index was 3.9%. It represented 7.6% of the index of the welfare of society. Forests have the greatest impact in the environmental dimension, according to the assessment results.

This paper firstly designs a five-dimensional model of learners’ characteristics (learners’ English reading ability, cognitive style, learning goal, learning situation, and learning effect) and a three-dimensional model of English reading resources’ characteristics (question types, topics, and difficulty of resources) in a fragmented learning environment through literature research. At the same time, to make the learning resources meet the characteristics of fragmented learning time and space, the English Level 4 reading resources are reasonably designed and segmented to adapt to the needs of learners’ mobile fragmented learning. Then, combined with machine learning algorithms, an adaptive recommendation model of learning resources in English fragmented reading is constructed. The algorithm-based adaptive recommendation algorithm for English fragmented reading resources is designed. Based on the generated decision trees, the expression rules are parsed to achieve adaptive pushing of resources. The results of this study show that adaptive recommendation of learning resources in English fragmented reading can help teachers to develop future resource recommendation strategies through effective data collection to adaptively push resources that are close to learners’ individual needs. The use of mobile by English learners to learn to read in a fragmented learning context enables targeted training in weak areas of English reading, thus enhancing different aspects of learners’ reading skills.

Psychological capital (optimism, resilience, hope and self-efficacy) has been joined by a new dimension in the workplace. This is engagement, a new construct, and a research questionnaire called the healthy employee was created to assess this dimension. In this sense, the present work has the aim of adapting and validating this questionnaire of the healthy employee in the educational field, calling this person a healthy student. In total, 290 students (140 women and 150 men) undertaking different university degrees were recruited for this research. A confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to test the structure of two different models in the workplace, with five and eight dimensions, and to adapt and verify the reliability of the models in the educational setting. The results showed a poor fit for both models, suggesting the elimination of four items in the five-dimensional model and of three items in the eight-dimensional model. In addition, the five-dimensional model indicated discriminant validity, while the eight-dimensional model presented non-compliance between two dimensions. Therefore, this work generates an instrument with adequate psychometric properties in the five-dimensional model in the educational field.

Abstract. Futures Consciousness refers to the capacity that a person has for understanding, anticipating, and preparing for the future. Although the concept is widely used in the field of futures research, no quantitative tool exists yet that assesses it. Drawing from a recent five-dimensional model that considers Time perspective, Agency beliefs, Openness to alternatives, Systems perception, and Concern for others as interrelated sub-dimensions of a general construct of Futures Consciousness, we developed a composite 20-item scale that measures Futures Consciousness as an interindividual difference. The psychometric properties of this new scale were examined through a dual approach of exploratory and confirmatory factorial analyses with a total of 1,301 participants in three languages (English, French, and Finnish). The scale’s structure proved satisfactory and fitted the hypothesized five-dimensional model in all three languages. Measures of internal and external validity (convergent and concurrent) also indicated good psychometric properties. Notably, individuals’ scores were positively related to the adoption of several social future-oriented behaviors such as pro-environmental and civic behavior. As such, the developed scale proves a reliable tool that could be of use for scholars and practitioners in futures studies as well as psychology.

Organizations are implementing actions to improve the health and quality of life of employees, this fact affects the companies and their employees, the latter being characterized by having five strengths such as engagement, resilience, Self-efficacy, optimism and hope. The questionnaire of the healthy employee measures eight dimensions, so the objective of the work is to validate the instrument by reducing the construct of the healthy employee from eight dimensions to five dimensions and to verify its reliability as a means of evaluating the healthy employee. 287 employees (ages 20-59 years) participated in this study. The adjustment of the five and eight-dimensional models was analyzed by means of a Confirmatory Factorial Analysis (CFA), using the method of estimation of Maximum Robust Likelihood. The incremental indices (CFI and NNFI) and the absolute SRMR showed a good fit in both models, being higher than, 90 and lower than, respectively. Regarding the comparison of models, a significant increase was observed in the Satorra-Bentler Chi Square contrast statistic in the five model compared to the eight dimension model, although the reduction of the CFI in the five-dimensional model did not exceed the criterion of, 01, which allowed to consider both models as similar in terms of adjustment. Both models showed satisfactory results in terms of adjustment, this fact confirms the use of the healthy employee questionnaire from eight dimensions to five dimensions.
