In the closed, non-Haken, hyperbolic class of examples generated by (2p, q) Dehn fillings of Figure 8 knot space, the geometrically incompressible one-sided surfaces are identified by the filling ratio [Formula: see text] and determined to be unique in all cases. When applied to one-sided Heegaard splitting, this can be used to classify all geometrically incompressible splittings in this class of closed, hyperbolic examples; no analogous classification exists for two-sided Heegaard splitting.

Waste heat recovery systems are used to recover the waste heat in all possible ways. It saves the energy and reduces the man power and materials. Heat pipes have the ability to improve the effectiveness of waste heat recovery system. The present investigation focuses to recover the heat from Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition system (HVAC) with two different working fluids refrigerant(R410a) and nano refrigerant (R410a+Al2O3). Design of experiment was employed, to fix the number of trials. Fresh air temperature, flow rate of air, filling ratio and volume of nano particles are considered as factors. The effectiveness is considered as response. The results were analyzed using Response Surface Methodology

The research revealed in the paper considers the improvement of secondary treatment of wastewater in the aerobic reactor to provide removal of organics and nutrients. There were five types of polymer biofilm carriers taken into account initially; however, two of them were decided not to apply due to technological reasons. The main part of the research was divided into three substages to investigate each type of biofilm carrier. According to the literature review, the optimal efficiency may be reached if the carrier filling ratio is 10 to 30% of reactor volume. On this basis, there were three benches launched at each sub-stage with a corresponding filling ratio of 10, 20, and 30%. The fourth reactor at each sub-stage had no floating carrier to control the experiment. The research of all three types of carriers showed the effect of BOD removal in the range of 95–96% for benches equipped with a floating carrier, which can be considered similar to the control bench with the efficiency of 92%. In the case of ammonia nitrogen, the removal control bench showed only 55% of efficiency, while floating carriers helped to increase the efficiency up to 70–86%. Despite obtaining relatively positive results, the research has to be continued to achieve regulation requirements in treatment quality.

Aiming at solving the NVH problem in vehicles, a novel composite structure is proposed. The new structure uses a hollow-stub phononic-crystal with filled cylinders (HPFC) plate. Any unit in the plate consists of a lead head, a silicon rubber body, an aluminum base as outer column and an opposite arranged inner pole. The dispersion curves are investigated by numerical simulations and the influences of structural parameters are discussed, including traditional hollow radius, thickness, height ratio, and the new proposed filling ratio. Three new arrays are created and their spectrum maps are calculated. In the dispersion simulation results, new branches are observed. The new branches would move towards lower frequency zone and the band gap width enlarges as the filling ratio decreases. The transmission spectrum results show that the new design can realize three different multiplexing arrays for waveguides and also extend the locally resonant sonic band gap. In summary, the proposed HPFC structure could meet the requirement for noise guiding and filtering. Compared to a traditional phononic crystal plate, this new composite structure may be more suitable for noise reduction in rail or road vehicles.

Concrete made by post-filling coarse aggregate process could reduce the cement content greatly compared with traditional concrete placement method. Thus, it not only lowers the production cost of concrete through lower usage of cement but also reduces the CO2 emissions to the environment. In this paper, the compressive and tensile strength of post-filling coarse aggregate concrete with different post-filling ratios (PFRs) (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%) and concrete strength grades (C30, C40, C50) were first studied. Then the flexural performance of nineteen concrete beams with different concrete strength, post-filling ratios, reinforcement ratios was investigated. The experimental results showed that the compressive strength and elastic modulus of the post-filling coarse aggregate concrete increased with the increase of the post-filling ratio of coarse aggregate, reaching the peak value at the filling ratio of 20%. It indicated that there was no obvious difference in the failure mode as well as middle-span deflections between post-filling coarse aggregate concrete (PFCC) beams and ordinary concrete (OC) beams. Ductile failure was observed for all nineteen specimens. Results demonstrated that the cracking load, yield load, and ultimate load of the post-filling coarse aggregate concrete beams all reached the peak value at the post-filling ratio of 20%. In addition, the theoretical predictions of cracking loads and ultimate load carrying capacities matched the experimental results in satisfactory agreement.

We discuss quantum algebraic structures of the systems of electrons or quasiparticles on a sphere on whose center a magnetic monopole is located. We verify that the deformation parameter is related to the filling ratio of the particles in each case.
