In this study, a new instance selection method that combines the neural network with weighted fuzzy memberships (NEWFM) and Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy model was proposed to improve the classification accuracy of healthy people and Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients. In order to evaluate the proposed instance selection for the classification accuracy of healthy people and PD patients, foot pressure data were collected from healthy people and PD patients as experimental data. This study uses wavelet transforms (WTs) to remove the noise from the foot pressure data in preprocessing step. The proposed instance selection method is an algorithm that selects instances using both weighted mean defuzzification (WMD) in the T–S fuzzy model and the confidence interval of a normal distribution used in statistics. The classification accuracy was compared before and after instance selection was applied to prove the superiority of instance selection. Classification accuracy before and after instance selection was 77.33% and 78.19%, respectively. The classification accuracy after instance selection exhibited a higher classification accuracy than that before instance selection by 0.86%. Further, McNemar’s test, which is used in statistics, was employed to show the difference in classification accuracy before and after instance selection was applied. The results of the McNemar’s test revealed that the probability of significance was smaller than 0.05, which reaffirmed that the classification accuracy was better when instance selection was applied than when instance selection was not applied. NEWFM includes the bounded sum of weighted fuzzy memberships (BSWFMs) that can easily show the differences in the graphically distinct characteristics between healthy people and PD patients. This study proposes new technique that NEWFM can detect PD patients from foot pressure data by the BSWFMs embedded in devices or systems.

This experiment examined changes in body sway after Wingate test (WAnT) in 19 adolescents practicing alpine skiing, subjected to the same type of training load for 4–5 years (10 girls and nine boys). The postural examinations were performed with eyes open (EO), eyes closed (EC), and sway reverenced vision (SRV) in the medial-lateral (ML) and anterior-posterior (AP) planes. The displacement of center of foot pressure (CoP), range of sway (RS), mean sway velocity (MV), way length, and surface area were measured in bipedal upright stance before and after the WAnT to assess the influence of fatigue on postural balance. There were no significant differences in WAnT parameters between girls and boys. Relative peak power (RPP), relative total work (RWtot) were (girls vs. boys) 8.89 ± 0.70 vs. 9.57 ± 1.22 W/kg, p < 0.05 and 227.91 ± 14.98 vs. 243.22 ± 30.24 W/kg, p < 0.05 respectively. The fatigue index (FI) was also on similar level in both genders; however, blood lactate concentration (BLa) was significantly higher in boys (10.35 ± 1.16 mM) than in girls (8.67 ± 1.35 mM) p = 0.007. In the EO examination, statistically significant differences between resting and fatigue conditions in the whole group and after the division into girls and boys were found. In fatigue conditions, significant gender differences were noted for measurements in the ML plane (sway path and RS) and RS in the AP plane. Comparison of the three conditions shows differences between EO vs. EC and SRV in AP plane measured parameters, and for RS in ML plane in rest condition in girls. The strong correlations between FI and CoP parameters mainly in ML plane in the whole group for all examination conditions were noted. By genders, mainly RS in ML plane strongly correlates with FI (r > 0.7). No correlation was found between BLa and CoP parameters (p > 0.06). The presented results indicate that subjecting adolescents of both genders to the same training may reduce gender differences in the postural balance ability at rest but not in fatigue conditions and that girls are significantly superior in postural balance in the ML plane than boys. It was also shown that too little or too much information may be destructive to postural balance in young adolescents.

In Microarray Data, it is complicated to achieve more classification accuracy due to the presence of high dimensions, irrelevant and noisy data. And also It had more gene expression data and fewer samples. To increase the classification accuracy and the processing speed of the model, an optimal number of features need to extract, this can be achieved by applying the feature selection method. In this paper, we propose a hybrid ensemble feature selection method. The proposed method has two phases, filter and wrapper phase in filter phase ensemble technique is used for aggregating the feature ranks of the Relief, minimum redundancy Maximum Relevance (mRMR), and Feature Correlation (FC) filter feature selection methods. This paper uses the Fuzzy Gaussian membership function ordering for aggregating the ranks. In wrapper phase, Improved Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (IBPSO) is used for selecting the optimal features, and the RBF Kernel-based Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier is used as an evaluator. The performance of the proposed model are compared with state of art feature selection methods using five benchmark datasets. For evaluation various performance metrics such as Accuracy, Recall, Precision, and F1-Score are used. Furthermore, the experimental results show that the performance of the proposed method outperforms the other feature selection methods.

This paper investigates the synchronization ofYinandYangchaotic T-S fuzzy Henon maps via PDC controllers. Based on the Chinese philosophy,Yinis the decreasing, negative, historical, or feminine principle in nature, whileYangis the increasing, positive, contemporary, or masculine principle in nature.YinandYangare two fundamental opposites in Chinese philosophy. The Henon map is an invertible map; so the Henon maps with increasing and decreasing argument can be called theYangandYinHenon maps, respectively. Chaos synchronization ofYinandYangT-S fuzzy Henon maps is achieved by PDC controllers. The design of PDC controllers is based on the linear invertible matrix theory. The T-S fuzzy model ofYinandYangHenon maps and the design of PDC controllers are novel, and the simulation results show that the approach is effective.

In many practical systems, stochastic behaviors usually occur and need to be considered in the controller design. To ensure the system performance under the effect of stochastic behaviors, the controller may become bigger even beyond the capacity of practical applications. Therefore, the actuator saturation problem also must be considered in the controller design. The type-2 Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model can describe the parameter uncertainties more completely than the type-1 T-S fuzzy model for a class of nonlinear systems. A fuzzy controller design method is proposed in this paper based on the Interval Type-2 (IT2) T-S fuzzy model for stochastic nonlinear systems subject to actuator saturation. The stability analysis and some corresponding sufficient conditions for the IT2 T-S fuzzy model are developed using Lyapunov theory. Via transferring the stability and control problem into Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problem, the proposed fuzzy control problem can be solved by the convex optimization algorithm. Finally, a nonlinear ship steering system is considered in the simulations to verify the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed fuzzy controller design method.

In this article, a Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model is applied to deal with the problem of observer-based control design for nonlinear time-delayed systems with fractional-order [Formula: see text]. By applying the Lyapunov–Krasovskii method, a fuzzy observer–based controller is established to stabilize the time-delayed fractional-order Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model. Also, the problem of disturbance rejection for the addressed systems is studied via the state-feedback method in the form of a parallel distributed compensation approach. Furthermore, sufficient conditions for the existence of state-feedback gains and observer gains are achieved in the terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, two numerical examples are simulated for the validation of the presented methods.

Abstract This paper examines the problem of designing a robust H∞ fuzzy controller with D-stability constraints for a class of nonlinear dynamic systems which is described by a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. Fuzzy modelling is a multi-model approach in which simple sub-models are combined to determine the global behavior of the system. Based on a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, we develop a robust H∞ fuzzy controller that guarantees (i) the L2-gain of the mapping from the exogenous input noise to the regulated output to be less than some prescribed value, and (ii) the closed-loop poles of each local system to be within a specified stability region. Sufficient conditions for the controller are given in terms of LMIs. Finally, to show the effectiveness of the designed approach, an example is provided to illustrate the use of the proposed methodology.
